It ain't over 'til it's over... Series II released making the Beanie
Babies Official Club cards popular. The Series II cards released in March
1999 and were top sellers. Packs sold out in few weeks making their values
and demand increase.
Unlike Series I, you won't find an Original Nine card in a pack of
Series II cards, instead, the rarest type of card you can find is a Rare
Bear card. Common, Birthday, and Retired cards are still in the deal.
Like Series I, you'll find 8 trading cards and a checklist, but you
don't find a puzzle. You'll find a scratch-off trivia card which can be
either played as a game or a source of Beanie information.

Series II common cards are alike with the Series I commons. Numbered
150-249 (except Scat), there are once again, 100 common cards in the set.
The Beanies on Series II Commons have not been represented in Series I.
The hunt for common cards begins when the series sells out.
Series II Birthday cards are alike and different from Series I. Odds
of finding one is 1 in 3 packs. There are only three Rookie cards in
Series II: Beak, Halo, and Pumkin'. Cards are formatted vertically rather
than horizontally, and the Beanie is shown on an etched hologram
background. The back of the card features an "On This Day in History"
fact, explaining an event that took place on that Beanie's birthday, or
celebrities or historical figures who share a birthday with that Beanie.
The Beanie's birthday is listed at the top. Color variations determine the
degree of difficulty again, but there are changes in color. These are the
colors: blue (easiest), green, silver, and gold (rarest). To determine the
color of your birthday card in Series II, it is determined by the foil
color of the first name of your Beanie on that card. If you own a Halo
card and "Halo" is in blue foil, it is easy to find.

Retired cards in Series II, like in Series I, feature retired Beanies.
But unlike Series I, not every card showcases a rare Beanie Baby. Odds are
1 in 5 packs. The background is holographic and also is formatted
vertically. The back of the cards show that Beanie's birthday,
introduction date, and retirement dates, as well as the poem. To determine
the degree of difficulty of your retired cards, a stamp reading "Retired
?-?-9?" will appear in either blue, green, silver or gold. If your is gold
in color you have a great find! |

Not too great, 'cause that's not all! Rare bear cards are the best
cards you can find in Series II. These cards spotlight 12 bears that are
possibly Ty's best Beanie bears in existance. You can find these cards if
you are lucky to buy 50 packs-you may find one. That's two cases and two
packs! Each bear is shown with its name and chest emblem printed on the
bottom. The color of the foil listed on the stamp reading "The bear"
determines your Rare Bear card's degree of difficulty. You'll be extremely
lucky if you find a gold #1 Bear card in this set, it's very hard to
find... only 32 have been made! |

There is a total of 304 autographed cards available in Series II. All
autographed cards are numbered 1/1 in the bottom corner and are signed
"ty" with a gold paint pen. With each signature, there additionally is a
small clear TY heart embossed on top of the signature. Not all autographed
cards have been reported, giving a possibility of several still in
unopened cases.
Buy a case of 24 packs of BBOC cards and you will find a collectible
two-sided poster that features full color photos of every card in Series I
and II.
But that's not it with series II-there are Canadian and European
versions of these cards! Series II Canadian cards can be identified by a
red maple leaf on the upper corner of each card. European cards can be
identified by the letters "EU" printed in blue foil, also on the upper
corner of each card. All cards are available in the International sets
except for common cards Mac and Sammy and Rare Bear card Princess, making
the American versions valuable in those countries.
Series II was a successful selling set of BBOC trading cards, as was
Series I. But the show must go on! |
