'Tradee', as well as Speckles; the BBOT (Beanie Board of Trade)
was introduced, and 'Ask Ty'!
With 'Ask Ty', five chosen questions

Below is a list of all the 'Ask Ty'
questions and answers for year 2004 ...
January 8
Q: How do
you decide which Beanie grows up to become a Buddy? (submitted by
Beaniebrother)
A: As you know, I am an avid reader of the Cyberboards. Many times your
"Bright Ideas" have determined the next Buddies !
January 15
Q: Can you
give us a clue about the mysterious bear behind the window shade in the
Ty Store? (submitted by SillyBear)
A: Bear behind a shade ? I don't see any bear behind a window shade in
the TyStore.
January 22
Q: In your
opinion, what is the most successful Ty Beanie Baby you've made? (submitted
by 221155)
A: When I think back over the past 10 years, names like Princess, Erin,
Peace, Glory, and America immediately come to mind. But, as I sit here
pondering this question, I'm taken back to 1993, Gatlinburg and nine
little Beanies that I must say are the answer to your question !
January 29
Q: What do you
collect besides Beanie Babies, or do you collect anything else? (submitted
by peachypooh44)
A: When I was young I had a small collection of baseball cards. Today,
I have two collections . . . . Beanies and those old baseball cards !
February 5
Q: Do you ever give Beanie
Babies as Valentines instead of cards? (submitted by 1712115408)
A: I think Beanies are much more fun to give than cards . . . especially
on Valentine's Day. What better way is there to say "I Love
You" than with a sweet Beanie like Sonnet, Kissy, Valentine,
Secret, or Smooch-e ? For a super special Valentine, I'd add a
Cupid or Kiss-e Beanie Buddy to complete the package !
February 12
Q: What's your favorite
Valentine's Beanie? (submitted by scotchtape)
A: I would say that out of all the Valentine's Beanies, I have a
soft spot for the very first one . . . . Valentino !
February 19
Q: If you could
have any other job in the world, what would it be? (submitted by
minnickk)
A: It's difficult to imagine a job that could be better than the one I
have right now. I'm very fortunate to be in a position where smiles
are the end result of my labor. I love what I do and wouldn't switch
places with anyone !
February 26
Q: Why did you use a heart
for your hang tag? (submitted by joeswife)
A: From the very beginning, I wanted to create products that people
could feel good about giving to one another . . . . a gift given
"With Love" and from "The Heart".
March 4
Q: Do you
celebrate every Beanie Baby's birthday? (submitted by
sportsgirl12)
A: I do check in with the Info Beanie every month to see which
of my favorite Beanies are celebrating a special day. Can you imagine
celebrating all their birthdays? We would have cake 364 days this year
!
March 11
Q: In the second Agent Cody
Banks movie, what role do the Beanie Babies play? (submitted by
Brandi101617)
A: I would love to give you the answer but I have been sworn to secrecy.
Let's just say that Hero plays a CENTRAL role and his INTELLIGENCE
surprises everyone in the AGENCY !
March 17
Q: How do
you celebrate St. Patrick's Day? Do you go to the parade in Chicago? (submitted
by anna-belle)
A: Top O' the Mornin' ! I think I'll be having a little corn beef and
cabbage for lunch and hopefully sampling some home made soda bread at
the office. Chicago had their parade on Saturday and New York will
have theirs today. Did you know that the very first St. Patrick's Day
parade took place in New York City in 1762 and today it is one of the
largest parades honoring this day. Maybe I'll see you there !
March 25
Q: Do you
realize how much fun and happiness you have brought to people. What
has happened in your life to make you the happiest? (submitted by ritc)
A: First let me say thank you for your kind words. This is a difficult
question because there are so many things that bring joy into my life.
If we gauge HAPPY based on the total minutes of consecutive smiling
time, I would have to say that the Cyberboard New Years Eve party
ranked very high on my happy scale !
April 2
Q: What was the best
April Fool's joke anyone ever played on you? (submitted by goldbear)
A: I have been at the receiving end of more April Fool's Day jokes
than I care to remember. Several years ago someone filled my car from
floor to ceiling with Beanies !
April 8
Q: Is this what you had planned for
when you started to make Beanie Babies? Did you think it would get
this big, and touch and affect so many people? (submitted by Taggerung)
A: My original plan for Beanies was to create a soft, cute,
under-stuffed toy that a child could hold in the palm of their hand
and afford with their allowance. Did I think Beanies "would get
this big?" . . . . it crossed my mind a time or two !
April 15
Q: Will you be
joining the celebration party for the 5th anniversary for the Ty Talk
Cyberboard? (submitted by americanmaid)
A: I wouldn't miss it for the world ! Happy Anniversary to all
my Cyberboard friends.
April 22
Q: Do you have a Beanie
sitting on your computer. If so, who is it? (submitted by pocketswoof)
A: I don't have a Beanie on my computer today . . . but I do have
Plopper, Puddles, Grins, and Slumbers keeping me company!
April 29
Q:
Do you do anything special for May Day?
(submitted by
4760177)
A:
I don't usually do anything special to celebrate May Day. However, if
the weather is nice, I may take a long walk and just enjoy the day.
May 6
Q: Ty if I looked in your
year book what would the predictions for you say? (submitted by
joeswife)
A: When I graduated I had aspirations of becoming an actor, so many
thought I would be a Hollywood star ! If you opened my yearbook (if I
could find it), I think you would find words like . . . . "follow
your dreams" and "best of luck".
May 13
Q: Ty, even
though you have become a celebrity yourself, do you still get "starstruck"
meeting other celebrities? (submitted by labonte18)
A: I wouldn't call it "starstruck", but it's certainly
interesting to meet someone that you have seen or read about in the
media. I will admit . . . playing tennis with Andre was quite a treat
!
May 20
Q: What do
you like most about your job? (submitted by goldbear)
A: There are many things I like about the job. Every day is filled
with new experiences and there's never a dull moment. I work with many
wonderful people and . . . . what's not to like about being surrounded
by Beanies ?!
May 27
Q: If you could, would
you change anything about Beanies? (submitted by clairecat)
A: Looking back over the past 10 plus years, there are probably some
changes I would make to a Beanie or two. What do you think . . . would
you change anything?
June 3
Q: We are always asking you
questions. Would you like to ask us a question? (submitted by oneducky)
A: Yes I would. Of all the Beanies I introduced this year, which 10 do
you like the best? This is fun . . . let's try this again sometime !
June 11
Q: Which is your favorite Beanie Baby, and why? (submitted by 3861084)
A: This is a really tough
question ! I tried to come up with one favorite but . . . each of my Beanies
have special meanings and memories for me. I can't pick just one.
June 18
Q: If you weren't making
Beanies, what do you think you would be doing? (submitted by
oXOrlandoIsMineXo)
A: Much of my life has been devoted in one way or another to plush
toys. I really can't imagine my world without these adorable creatures
. . . . especially Beanie Babies !
June 24
Q: When you go to create
the Beanies, what is the toughest stage of the creation to complete? (submitted
by Oats=fun)
A: Probably the toughest is the approval stage. Many of the Beanies go
through multiple rounds of prototyping before they are ready for
production. For example - Jumpshot went through 6 revisions before I
felt the proportions were just right and Huggins needed a little tweak
in the ears to get ready for Beanie fame !
July 1
Q: When you are not at Ty
Inc. thinking of Beanies, what are you usually doing? (submitted by
wilcomj)
A: When I'm not in the office I am usually traveling. This week was New
York, California, Texas and Florida. However, no matter where I might be
. . . I'm always thinking about Beanies !
July 8
Q: You are a
celebrity of the Beanie world - are you ever recognized in public? (submitted
by ty-dye-beanie)
A: I am recognized more today than in years past. The question I hear
most often is . . . . "Don't I know you?"
July 15
Q: How often do you pop
into a local Beanie retail store, just to see what is on their shelves? (submitted by
ty-dye-beanie)
A: I visit a store at least once a week. I enjoy talking Beanies with
store owners, customers and especially children !
July 23
Q: Who draws the gorgeous
banners on the Ty Store? (submitted by ty-dye-beanie)
A: I am very fortunate to have great graphic designers. The credit for
most of the TyStore graphics goes to Eric, Robert, Monica, and Patrick .
. . . how about a round of applause for my creative team !
July 30
Q: I absolutely LOVE your
new ideas! Where do you get you inspiration? (submitted by
crazzybaboon)
A: Honestly, I am most inspired by two things - all of you and the
children. Your thoughts and posts on the boards, your expressions when
holding my product, and the smiles and giggles from a child playing
with a piece of Ty plush truly motivate me.
August 5
Q: Did you go to a
McDonald's to get a Teenie Beanie? (submitted by Skittlez)
A: I certainly did . . . and I received a boxed set from my friends at
McDonald's.
August 12
Q:
How many Gold Medals do you think the U.S. teams will win at the
Olympics? (submitted by dietpop)
A: The last U.S. Olympic team won 10 Gold Medals. This year I predict
12, and let me tell you where I think we have the best chances. Michael
Phelps is an extraordinary swimmer, so I think he may win 3 to 4 medals
all by himself. The women's softball, gymnastics, and basketball teams
all can do very well in this year's Olympics. How many Gold do you think
the U.S. team will bring home ?
August 19
Q: What is your
favorite kind of Beanie Baby to make, for example bears, dogs, cats? (submitted by auroraluver13)
A: Bears, dogs, and cats can be fun to design, but I think my favorites
are the ones that are truly unique . . . such as Ratzo !
August 26
Q: Can you tell us a
secret? (submitted by thunderroadrider)
A: You know I don't normally tell secrets but this time I'll make an
exception. Here you go . . . I am introducing a very special
collection of Beanies on August 30th ! Remember, this is a secret -
mum's the word.
September 2
Q: Will you ever
answer all 4 questions we ask you in a week? (submitted by babyblue)
A: I certainly will . . . . that's one. How many states have I been to?
I had to think a little on this one but I believe I have been to 47
states. Do I prefer warm or cold weather? My choice would be warm
weather but I do like the changing of the seasons. What is my favorite
color? The first color that comes to mind is . . . . Red !
September 9
Q: What is the most touching
moment you've had while creating Ty products? (submitted by cedjb)
A: I'd have to say the most touching moment of creating any product has to be
after it's finished; when I get to see the smile it brings to a child's face.
September 16
Q:
Mr. Warner, do you think we might see a 'Quote of the Day' posted by
you? (submitted by ~*Cuddles*~)

October 8
Q:
If you had to pick the funniest Beanie, what would it be?
(submitted by tyty42)
A: I think you can probably guess which Beanie I'll pick. This
Beanie is so funny that the poem ends with "When I see myself I
laugh too !". Can you guess yet ? . . . . it's Ratzo !
October 14
Q:
Where do you put all of your Beanie Babies, and how do you set them
up? (submitted by gothabeanies)
A: I have Beanies everywhere ! This morning Jinxy and Shivers had
breakfast with me and Victory greeted me when I arrived at the office.
October 21
Q: What's the most
favorite Halloween costume you have ever worn? (submitted by

thought I was the meanest pirate that had ever walked the earth (or
maybe my block) !
October 28
Q: What is
the best practical joke that someone has pulled on you? (submitted by labonte18)

a practical joke played on me to this level ever since !
November 4
Q: I remember reading that
you are an accomplished pianist. Do you ever play for your employees at work?
(submitted by pocketswoof)

it's one of my favorites !
November 11
Q: What is your daily
routine when working at Ty Inc? What is your favourite part of your day?
(submitted by ty-dye-beanie)
A: I really don't have a daily routine. There are always so many things
going on you never know what to expect from one day to the next. My
favorite part of day, that's easy . . . reading the Cyberboards and
seeing what's new on Ms. Janie's !
November 18
Q: What was your first
job and how old were you? (submitted by caper2)
A: I'm not sure that you would call it a real job, but when I was 9
years old I helped a friend deliver newspapers. I'll never forget
being chased by Mrs. Schmidt's St. Bernard . . . Bernie !
November 26
Q: What do you
have planned special for the Beanie Baby Official Club this year? (submitted
by gotcha)
A: I would love to be able to answer this question but you know how I
am with secrets. Let me just say I look forward to your visit on
Wednesday . . . and have a very happy Thanksgiving !
December 2
Q: What is the
largest Ty product? (submitted by hhowenst)
A: The largest piece I can remember is
the one of a kind jumbo Ronald McDonald Bear I made for the McDonald's
convention this year. I believe the largest production piece was Jumbo
George the Gorilla.

surprise you with a book !
December 16

responses to your new releases? Or excitement generated by your
contests? Or do you have fun with the "rumors" posted? (submitted
by peacebears4me)
A: I have fun with the entire site. I love reading the boards. I enjoy
responding to your questions. Your Beanie designs and contest entries

really enjoy our time together on New Year's Eve !
December 23
Q: Do
you decorate your tree or the corporate christmas tree with Beanies
and Jingle Beanies? (submitted by labonte18)
A: The trees at our office are decorated more traditional with ribbon,
glass ornaments and lights. My house is decorated with Holiday Beanies
from as far back as Snowball and the 1997 Holiday Teddy. The Christmas
Trees at the Santa Barbara and New York Four Seasons cheerfully
display . . . Jingle Beanies !
December 31
Q: Where do you plan to spend your New
Year's Eve? (submitted by bird lover)
A: I will be at quite an exclusive party . . . . right here on the Ty
