"Ivy Leaguer" Beanie Bopper!
Here's some Exclusive news for all Beanie Bopper collectors! While checking out the Chicago Cubs Schedule this morning, I came across some interesting information. The Cubs promo schedule for Sunday, September 30, 2001, has changed to now read ... "Fan Appreciation Weekend; Beanie Boppers named "Ivy Leaguer" featuring exclusive Ty Gear (1st 10,000 Children). (Perhaps a new boy Beanie Bopper is debuting soon?)

Another Baseball Exclusive Beanie Bopper™ Giveaway!
On July 22nd, I reported news of a Chicago Cubs promo, the "Ivy Leaguer Beanie Bopper" featuring a Cubs home uniform. Ms Janie had reported on a New York Yankees Beanie Kid giveaway, scheduled for August 5th. The promo reads - "Beanie Kids Featuring Yankees Home Uniform" - The first 18,000 fans, age 14 & under, will receive this limited edition promotion. The first 18,000 fans, age 14 & under, will receive this limited edition promotion, courtesy of TY, Inc." ... I checked this morning, due to the recent change with the Cubs giveaway - the "Ivy Leaguer Beanie Bopper". Nothing had been revised. In fact, the Yankee Promo page still reads as such. However, on the NY Yankees main page, it states:

BEANIE BOPPER DAY
Ty, Inc., is back in baseball for 2001. The New York Yankees are the first Major League team to introduce the new Beanie Bopper collectible. On Sunday, August 5, the Yankees will present a limited-edition Beanie Bopper to the first 18,000 fans, age 14 or under in possession of a ticket to that day's game. This exclusive Beanie Bopper, named "Bronx Bomber", features the New York Yankees home uniform and custom-designed tag. In September, the Chicago Cubs will present "Ivy Leaguer" to the first 10,000 fans as part of Fan Appreciation Day at Wrigley Field.

Chicago Cubs Promo - Exclusive Bopper Giveaway!!!
The new promo schedule for the Chicago Cubs has just been posted. Noted on June 1, 2002, it states "Beanie Boppers™ featuring exclusive Ty Gear™ with Cubs Road Uniform -- first 7,000 Children. Commemorative card included. Exclusive promotion available to Wrigley Field guests only."

Another Beanie Bopper Exclusive!!!
We have some NEW Bopper news to pass along to you ... the New York Yankees have JUST posted their promotion schedule today for 2002. Included in this years promo is yet another Beanie Bopper. The promotional giveaway is currently scheduled for Saturday, September 7, 2002 ... and reads "Beanie Bopper - Road Uniform Day - 1st 18,000 fans/14 & under - sponsored by adidas".
Posted August 7 ... description changed to "Beanie Bopper w/ Limited Edition Collector Card".

Update: As of August 21, 2002, per the BBOC newsletter (see below), this Bopper's name is 'Fastball Freddie'.

Thanks for the info, Sandra. I looked through quite a few of the Major League Baseball sites the other day, but somehow missed that one. It looks like there may be one, sponsored by Jiffy Lube.

'Home Run Harry' ... introduced by Ty on August 10, 2002 (the same day of the Astros Game) and later retired that same day.

Ms. Janie posted the BBOC newsletter (received by Sue-Da Queen). It includes photos of new releases ... including the Clubby V Anniversary Edition, Color Me Beanie, and more. In addition to information on 'Home Run Harry', it also reads: "The New York Yankees will also be holding their second Beanie Boppers promotion on Saturday, September 7th, at 4:05 EST, when Fastball Freddie makes his debut. We hope you'll be there to support the Yankees and the Astros and their newest Exclusive team members."

Fastball Freddie was officially introduced on Ty's website on Sept. 7, 2002, and retired later that evening. 18,000 were given away at the NY Yankees game vs Detroit Tigers. (The Yankees lost 2-1.)
