Argentina has
participated in 12 of the sixteen FIFA World Cup™ tournaments: 1930-1934,
1958-1966, 1974- 1998. Argentina hosted and won the finals in 1978. They won again in 1986 and
placed second in 1930 and 1990. |
Germany
Germany appeared in
14 of the 16 FIFA World Cup™ tournaments (1934-1938, 1954-1998).
Germany is one of the only three countries to win three FIFA World
Cup™ Trophies (1954, 1974, 1990). The other 2 countries are Brazil & Italy. |
Saudi
Arabia
Saudi Arabia first
attempted to quailify for the FIFA World
Cup™ in 1978. It lost to Iran and was
eliminated. Qualification for the 1994 FIFA World
Cup™ came when Saudi Arabia beat Iran 4-2.

Belgium
Belgium has taken
part in ten FIFA World Cup™ tournaments:

Ireland qualified for
the first FIFA World Cup™ final, traveling to Italy in 1990. Ireland qualified for the
1994 FIFA World Cup™ with a 1-1 draw to Northern Ireland. |
Senegal
Qualifying for the
fisrt time by beating Nambia 5-0, Senegal now
becomes the fourth African country to clinch a
spot in this FIFA World Cup™ tournament. |
Brazil
Brazil has more
success than any other nation in the FIFA World Cup™, qualifying for all 16 (1930-
1998. Brazil was the first country to win 3 FIFA World Cup™ Trophies:
1958, 1962, 1970 & was the runner- up in 1950. |
Italy
Founded in 1898,
Italy is one of the three countries known as one of the FIFA World
Cup™ tournaments most honored nations. The other two countries are Brazil and Germany. |
Slovenia
A nation still in the
infancy of it's independence, Slovenia was
admitted as a member of UEFA and FIFA in 1992,
one year after declaring its independence from
Yugoslavia. |
Cameroon
Cameroon has
qualified for four FIFA world Cup™

Croatia finished
third in the 1998 FIFA World Cup held in France.

Nigeria
The Super Eagles have
long been regarded as Africa's best hope for FIFA
World Cup™ success. On both previous
appearances in the finals, they have made it to
the last round before having their hopes
thwarted. |
Tunisia
Tunisia reached the
2002 FIFA World Cup™ finals with a 3-0 win
over the Democratic Republic of Congo in Kinshasa
and the failure of the Ivory Coast to beat Congo. |
Denmark
Denmark has qualified
for the FIFA World Cup twice before; in 1986 and
1998, reaching the quarter finals in France where
they lost 3-2 Brazil. |
Paraguay
1998 was Paraguay's
first return to the FIFA World Cup™ since
1986. In the early stages of qualifying they went
9 games without defeat after an initial loss
against Columbia. |
Turkey
Turkey reaches their
first ever UEFA European Championship in 1996
& made it to the quarter-final stage of the
corresponding tournament in 2000. Turkey now
seems set to make a mark on the world stage |
Ecuador
Ecuador has never
played at a FIFA World Cup and they have never
beaten Brazil. Ecuador produced a
stunning upset when they beat four- time
champions Brazil 1-0 in a FIFA World Cup qualifier. |
Poland
Poland had made it to
their first FIFA World Cup™ in 16 years,
last qualifying for the finals in 1986. Poland received 13 FIFA World Cup™ qualifying
points. They scored 13 goals. The player who
scored the 13th goal was #13 and he was born the
13th day of the month. |
Uruguay
In 1930 in Uruguay 13
countries participated in the first FIFA World
Cup. The So. American final was between Uruguay
& Argentina. Uruguay was down 2-1 at half
time but scored 3 goals in the second half,
ending the game with a 4-2 victory. |
England
England won the FIFA
World Cup™ Title in 1966 on their home soil and is currently ranked 9th in the FIFA
World Rankings. |
Portugal
Portugal was the
second team to qualify for the FIFA World Cup tournament. This will
be Portugal's third time competing in the FIFA
World Cup. Portugal last qualified last in 1986. |
USA
The United States has
participated in
5 FIFA World Cup™ tournaments (1930, 1934, 1950, 1990 and 1994). The best
finish by a US team in theFIFA World Cup™ play was third place in the 1930
tournament. In 1950, the US enjoyed its most celebrated FIFA World Cup™
moment with a 1-0 upset
win over England. And, in 1994, many people were surprised when the US
was asked to host the 15th FIFA World Cup™. |
France
France made football
history as the host country when they beat the defending champions Brazil 3-0 to
win the 1998 FIFA World Cup™. |
Russia
As Russia, this team
has not competed in the FIFA World Cup™ although part of the Soviet Union it
had a hand in 7 finals. |
