... NEC Birmingham Autumn Fair
Maybe some more new Ty products? As we reported on August 22nd, the Halloween Beanies ('Haunt', 'Creepers', 'Scary' and 'Fraidy'); and Buddies ('Spooky', 'Tangerine' and 'Radar') were first shown at the UK Autumn Fair last year on September 2. Ty Europe will be exhibiting again this year at the Autumn Fair in Birmingham (September 1-4).

... America Buddy in Red, White, and Blue?
Beanieholics reports from a reader:
"I have a hot little tip for you. The new America Buddy will be released in Red, White and Blue. Also, the FrankenTeddy will supposedly come in seven different variations!"

Doodle's note: America Buddy in red, white and blue ... and with reversed ear versions as well? And seven variations of Frankenteddy? ... Oh my goodness! Gas up the car! :)

... Rusty ... a 'Red Panda'
Several readers have inquired why the newly introduced Beanie Baby 'Rusty' is called a 'panda', as he looks more like a fox or racooon. Well, he's actually a 'red panda' ... which does resemble a raccoon in size and appearance. The red panda weighs approximately 6 - 13 pounds and lives in mountain forests (from Nepal through India and into China.). They eat bamboo, are good tree climbers and spend most of their time in trees! The red panda is quite rare, and is becoming more and more extinct as the availability of bamboo decreases.

12:30 pm EDT ... OK, people, I'm just expressing a personal thought here. But I must admit, I do like the idea :) As you know, there is a 'blank' window on Ty Store, with a shade half pulled. Notice the little Ty heart? Remember the BBOC shorthand note referring to a 'personal masterpiece'? Remember that Ty Warner's birthday is next Tuesday September 3rd? OK, now stay with me here! Many readers have written us, stating that they cannot see a 'purple bear' climbing the stairs through the door at Ty Store. At last check earlier this morning, the 'door window' was blank ... but seems to be randomly changing.

Joanne, and 'SK' of Ty Ok in Korea, have sent us images. I have received numerous 'ideas' from people as to what may take place. I suggest to just be patient and keep watching ... eventually something WILL show up!

... Ty Store ... Update
1:25 pm EDT ... Yesterday showed one window empty, then the shade pulled and two more empty windows added. I had just checked Ty Store, but didn't notice a change (yet). However, one of our readers did. Joanne writes:
WOW!!! Look at the Ty Store. If you look at the door at the bottom of the page, it will show a beanie walking up a flight of stairs to the second floor!!! Maybe this is a hint. It is a purple bear so could this mean that Ted-e the purple one is coming out??? (You will probaly have to refresh a few times for this to happen. It took me 4 tries.)

... Planners Make Exception For Ty's Spa
Beanieholics reports:
A proposed luxury spa at the Four Seasons Biltmore Resort will be handled under a conditional-use permit, following a decision Wednesday by the Santa Barbara County Planning Commission. Such a permit allows an owner to develop a property in a way not normally allowed. Ty Warner, whose Ty Inc. company manufactures Beanie Babies toys, bought the 236-room Biltmore for $150 million in cash in 2000.

9:25 am EDT ... Many of you may be aware that John from Germany started a traveling Unity project in Ms. Janie's honor. The project got so large that a second bear was started and named Unity II. This bear has made it to the newspapers now ... you can read about it at the link below.

8:15 am EDT ... There's an interesting 'rumor' posted on the Ty Cyberboard regarding the upcoming BBOC Clubby 5 offer.

... with some ty-dye of blue and white. Pictures probably do not do them justice. Also available is BB display case and a Ty 5-piece Collector Pin Set. Limit of 2 sets per order on all of above. The Color Me Beanie will be at the retailers and is a plastic beanie box with a pure white beanie with a BBOC pin. The are 6 colored markers to decorate the beanie with. You can send pictures of your beanie to the Ty BBOC site to see if it will be featured on the site. Sounds like fun and those artists out there should be really happy to send theirs in! Oh, yes, the beanie baby and buddy will be $15 a set, beanie case $3, and pin set $10. Can hardly wait to September 16 which will apparently be the first time we can order them, but they can be ordered by phone, mail in form, or on BBOC, credit cards only! Hope this info helps answer some of your questions!

(Doodle's Note: Congrats on your find, Stef .. and thanks for letting us know! As reported earlier, we have received information from various readers regarding the color-quantity limitations of Sherbet. Most reports (at least in the U.S.) are stating more of the pink version. (My local retailer reported today that she had received (in a bag of 12) ... two green, two yellow, and the rest pink.) It seems to basically depend on the country you are in and the retailer you visit. And if it doesn't retire, who knows what next month may bring! Actually, orange sherbet is one of my favorite flavors. Perhaps we shall see more 'variations' to follow ... rainbow would be cool, too, don't you think?!)

6:55 pm EDT ... A new 'old-face' brown bear - 'TED-e' - has been introduced by Ty. It is available for ordering through Ty Store at $5.00 each. Also new to Ty Store are Ty heart tag protectors for $3.00 each (10 pack).

... Sports Promo - NY Yankees Bopper - Update
2:50 pm EDT ... After mentioning the news earlier today on the Houston Astros Bopper promo, I decided to check out the New York Yankees promo as well, scheduled for September 7th. The earlier promo announcement read ... ""Beanie Bopper - Road Uniform Day - 1st 18,000 fans/14 & under - sponsored by adidas". It has now changed to read "Beanie Bopper w/ Limited Edition Collector Card".

... 'Sherbet'
Several reports have been mailed to us of different quantities available of particular 'Sherbet' Beanie Babies. Although the pink version seems to be the most prevalent, it may be a bit too early to anticipate which one may be more rare.

'Martin' reports that Sherbet is sold in Singapore in packs of six, which includes 3 pink, 2 green and 1 yellow. (He also reports to "look for 'Vanda' to retire" at the end of this month.)

... Houston Astros Beanie Bopper
2:20 am EDT ... Reminder: As we first reported on June 22nd, the Houston Astros Beanie Bopper give-away (sponsored by Jiffy Lube) is this Saturday, August 10th. The Bopper will be given out to the first 10,000 kids (14 and under). Maybe we will see an introduction by Ty then? ... 'Vacation' Report
I have now returned from the visit with Ms. Janie and her family. Words can't describe the warmth and generosity extended to me; I was truly treated like a Queen! The time just went by too fast. (I will share the story of my trip in the next couple of days, once my feet hit the ground again!)

I found another New Ty Trademark this morning! Actually it's 3 new Ty trademarks once again! On June 4,2002 Ty applied to register a trademark on "TyTips" 3 times and lists the following as the goods and services for the 3 trademarks.

1)Plush toys
2) yarns and threads for textile use
3) Namely synthetic Fabric for Textile use
Again Ty registers this trademark 3 times and goes all the way to protect their rights to it. This must be a new policy of Ty's when applying and registering their new trademarks on new fabrics?
