The Christmas Trees at the Santa Barbara and New York Four Seasons cheerfully display . . . Jingle Beanies !

It's always fun to guess what may be next with Ty.   With Valentine newbies already introduced by Ty, what will January releases reveal?  Perhaps some retirements around the corner?

Many of our schedules are quite busy this time of year.  It's hard to believe that Christmas is just a few days away.  My, how 'tyme' flies!   You may want to consider sharing a gift with someone in need.  (Our neighborhood has 'adopted' a family this year ... with toys, clothes, and food being donated.)  How about a Jingle Beanie to use is place of a bow on that special gift, as one reader has suggested.   Just enjoy the season and remember the reason!

Ms. Janie has received a couple of photos from a reader of Ty's recently (and silently) introduced (I Love) 'Hawaii' Beanie Baby.  This Bear appeared in Ty's current Beanie listing on December 7th, following 'rumors' that it would shortly show up in certain Hawaii retail stores.  It's a beautiful bear indeed!

Although the main CHERISH auctions for 2004 have now ended, with Bill Gates signed Speckles fetching a respectable £379 for research into children's cancers, there are a couple of individual auctions coming up before we really do pack up for the Christmas break.

Just started on eBay this evening is a wonderful package comprising the Windy Ridge Bears CHERISH Charity Bear 2004 (the #1 bear of the edition of 50), a gold and black sweater designed especially for him, a specially produced black and gold Windy Ridge Bears polo shirt (for his new owner) and a gift package of Bear Essentials Toiletries (also from Windy Ridge Bears).

Stef Probert of Windy Ridge Bears was voted Planet Teddy Bear Artist of 2003 and was also nominated for the British Bears Artist Award 2004 in the miniature groups category.

Ty Inc., creator of the popular Beanie Babies, has joined forces with the American Volunteer Corps, a foundation project of the American Health Association.

(PRWEB) December 8, 2004 -- Ty has pledged 10,000 Beanie Babies towards their efforts to collect over 25,000 Teddy Bears, dolls and stuffed animals for the Orphans of War Campaign in Iraq.

The July flight home to Arizona was uneventful for 14-year-old Alison Goulder, until she opened a copy of U.S.News & World Report. There she read a Whisper about a Washington law firm sending care packages to troops in Iraq. What caught her eye: Greenberg Traurig lawyers also included Beanie Babies for troops to give Iraqi tots. "I thought that was something I could do to make the children's lives better," recalls the teen. She started with 50 of her own stuffed Beanies. Then she involved her school and the whole Scottsdale area. In one day, Alison collected 3,000 Beanies, and Ty, the manufacturer, added 3,200 more. "We stopped making goals," she says, "because we broke them all the time." The eighth grader delivered over 27,000 Beanies to Washington, and now she's going national. "Once she gets something in her head," says her mother, Suzanne Goulder, "she won't give up." The military is thankful. "The most important thing we have in this war," Gen. Richard Myers, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, tells Whispers, "is American resolve. And she's showing American resolve."

All of the money raised by CHERISH over the past month has been specifically for that purpose and is currently totaling far in excess of £1000! It is wonderful that so many people are uniting to bring the gift of hope and life to children - our future.

Thanks to Sue for her generous offer of allowing me to participate in this event.  However, due to personal commitments, I was unable to complete the project in due time.  (During the home renovation, it has somehow mysteriously disappeared!)  All of the 'creations' are quite unique and beautifully done!  All the participants are highly commended for a 'job well done' for such a worthy cause!

Boca charity to send 25,000 teddy bears to Iraqi war orphans

A Boca Raton charity this month is sending 25,000 teddy bears to Iraqi orphans whose parents were killed in the U.S.-led invasion or by Saddam Hussein’s thugs.
The “Orphans of War” campaign, sponsored by the Boca-based American Health Association (AHA), has collected 15,000 stuffed animals from Teddy Bear Adoption Centers at nine Colonial Bank branches in Palm Beach County. In addition, Ty Inc. on Friday donated 15,000 Beanie Babies to the cause.  “The reward for me is getting the opportunity to express the fact that Americans have compassion for the legitimate human needs of Iraqis,” Lt. Col. Bob Weinstein, 53, told the Boca News.
