The time is approaching soon for the launch of the new generation of Beanie Babies ... BB2.0.  As collectors patiently wait, we have had the opportunity to view a couple of videos on You Tube.  If you wish to hang on to your patience and check it out on Ty's website on January 2nd (only two days away), then do not view the link below.

Ms. Janie has posted photos, including the hang tag and tush tag, shared from Howard of Howard Trading Post.  Ty retailers are receiving their catalogs now, so I imagine more photos will surface.  (It has been requested that photos are not to be copied for eBay auctions.)

It will take a bit of time to update all the lists on this site, and there are a few that we have questions on.  A number of Beanie Babies in Ty Store are also retired.

Earlier this month (see December 9th news below), it was noted that .... 
"all "non-licensed Beanie Babies" will be retired on December 31, 2007, and Beanies Babies 2.0 will be introduced on January 5, 2008.  "BB 2.0 will be web-based (similar to Ty Girlz) with four different "districts" - Farm, Burrow, Forest, and Backyard.  BB 2.0 will be larger than the original Beanie Babies, with limited production (and quarterly introductions).  Beanie Buddies and Pluffies will be discontinued."

Today on Ty's main page, an animation has been posted that states:
"Introducing Beanie Babies 2.0  ,,, The next generation is here!  We're retiring all other Beanie Babies to make way for ... Beanie Babies 2.0 January 2nd, 2008."

Santa Barbara, Calif ---"The Bachelor's" Andrew Firestone, the Central Coast wine family scion who's about to end his single life, is going to work for Beanie Babies tycoon Ty Warner.

The 32-year-old Firestone has been hired as director of memberships for Ty Warner Hotels & Resorts. He will roll out an exclusive membership program at Warner's Coral Casino Beach and Cabana Club and Montecito Country Club.

A news release says Firestone will seek to build a "membership community" that goes beyond the traditional focus on the two Santa Barbara properties to include other Warner holdings.

Warner's holdings include the Four Seasons Resort The Biltmore, San Ysidro Ranch, Sandpiper Golf Club, Rancho San Marcos Golf Course, Four Seasons Hotel in New York City and the Las Ventanas Resort in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.

Firestone, who announced plans to marry Serbian model and actress Ivana Bozilovic in spring 2008, has been working at the Firestone Vineyards in Paso Robles.

Firestone's 2003 proposal to Jen Schefft on the ABC-TV reality show "The Bachelor" was watched by millions and led to months of tabloid chatter afterward until the couple's breakup,

On June 19th, we posted a Press Release on "Nichelodeon / NVCP New Merchandising Programs.  (Click here for June 2007 news archives)  The PR stated that Ty, Inc., in a  partnership arrangement, would "produce plush products including the brand's signature Beanie Babies that would hit shelves in fall 2008".  Click here to read the article.  (This article refers to future 'Wonder Pets' Beanie Babies.)

Our friend Sakurako of Japan (Bottega Beanies) shares photos of the '2008 Zodiac Rat', including the double tush tag.  This "Year of the Rat" 'Asian Exclusive' Beanie Baby was introduced by Ty on November 30, 2007 - Style # 46122.  .... I must admit, this IS one cute rat, from his big pink nose down to his long pink tail.

For the last several months, Beanie Babies 2.0 has been a general topic of discussion for Ty Beanie collectors.  On August 17th, Scott Wehrs of Ty visited the Ty Girlz Party on Ms. Janie's message board and posted the following:

" ... Here is a little secret before the party is over.  Tonight has been great. I'll spend the next hour reading all your posts. Before I call it a night I wanted to give you a hint of things to come. Here you go . . . BB2.0 !   Let's do this again soon. Thank you so much for all your support over the years. I would like to think that the best is yet to come. And of course I can't leave the party without the final parting words - expect the unexpected. For Mr. Warner and all of us at Ty, good night and God Bless You."

Dusty of The Showroom website (an internet collectibles store) has posted a report from the Annual Meeting of Ty reps, held yesterday.  After reading the report, I'm sure many collectors will have unanswered questions, and perhaps a bit confused.  However, it won't be long before it all falls into place and a new 'era' of Beanie Babies will begin.  (Some information is subject to change, but it's a good insight into what is around the corner.

Dusty's report basically states that all "non-licensed Beanie Babies" will be retired on December 31, 2007, and Beanies Babies 2.0 will be introduced on January 5, 2008.  "BB 2.0 will be web-based (similar to Ty Girlz) with four different "districts" - Farm, Burrow, Forest, and Backyard.  BB 2.0 will be larger than the original Beanie Babies, with limited production (and quarterly introductions).  Beanie Buddies and Pluffies will be discontinued.  The style names of the new Beanie Babies and their districts are reported on Dusty's website.  You can check them all out on the link above.
