guesstimate how many beanies I've MANUFACTURED all these years. Don't be scared....
the number does exist....just try to come as close as you can. Remember this is all about fun!

...   Christmas Jingle Beanies - Hoops vs Key-Clips
On October 2nd, Ty introduced six Jingle Beanies ... Coolston, Coolstina, Santa, Snowbank, Yule, and Garlands.  Each of them have the loop for hanging, typical for a Jingle Beanie.  At least, that's the case in the U.S. and Japan  This set of Jingles, in case you aren't aware, were made as Key-Clips in the UK  (We're not aware of why the difference.)   Sakarako of Japan (Bottega Beanies) shares photos of the UK Jingles (key-clips), as seen below.

...   Punxsutawney Phil 2009 COC Exclusive
Last Wednesday, we were wondering if and when 'Signature Bear 2008',  'New Years' Bear "2009", and 'Punxsutawney Phil 2009 were going to appear.  Well, at least one of our curiosities has been settled ... today Ty has (silently) posted 'Punxsutawney Phil 2009 Chamber of Commerce Exclusive' Beanie Baby.  (Groundhog Day is February 2, 2009!)
... Thanks for sharing the news, Dan!

Predicting the weather's my career
I do my job one day each year
My shadow will decide our fate
Will winter go or spring be late ?!

...   And Then There Were .....
Just as quick as Hugamus disappeared from Ty Store, some of the new Holiday Beanies have appeared.  Samantha writes:

Hi Deb,  I think Hugamus has been removed to make room for the Christmas Beanie Babies in Ty Store.  Maybe Hugamus will reappear after Christmas, when it's a little closer to Valentines.  Today Ty has placed the following Holiday Beanies in Ty Store --- 2008 Holiday Teddy, Trimmings, Howlidays, Yule, and Snowbank.  And I agree with you as I would love to see a New Years' 2009 Beanie Baby!!!!!  Come on Ty, where is it?  LOL   Hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas.  TTY soon, Samantha

... Doodle's note:  Thanks for sharing, Samatha.  What a good idea on Ty's part, as I haven't seen ALL of these Beanies at retail stores in my area yet.  Maybe an easier way for collectors to do their Beanie shopping!  :)  (All five of those Beanie Babies were announced by Ty on October 2nd, with Yule being the only BB2.0)  Happy Shopping!

Added note:
Hi Deb:   Just a few comments on the 2008 Christmas beans now available at the TY store; these beans are located at MANY retailers in Metro Atlanta such as Learning Express, Kroger, Walgreens and many of the Hallmark stores (just to name a few).  It appears to me that TY overproduced these beans AND/OR they are just not selling well this year due to the poor economy.  These beans will probably all sell AFTER Christmas with retailer markdowns.

 ...   Hugamus (Update)
On December 1st, Ty silently posted the Beanie Baby 'Hugamus' as a Ty Store Exclusive on the website.  Although this Beanie has now (silently) disappeared from Ty Store, it is still listed as current on the site, perhaps simply available as a retail store Beanie Baby?  (On December 4th, we posted a photo of this pink hippo - see below ... it IS a cute Beanie Baby.)

 ...   New 'Ask Ty' Q & A
A new 'Ask Ty' question and answer has been posted on Ty's website:
Q:  Would you ever like to make a guest appearance in a TV show? Which one?  (submitted by beaniecharge)
A: I really can't say that making an appearance on a television show is on the top of "must do" list.

...   Oh Where, Oh Where Can They Be?
If you are a traditionalist, you're probably wondering ... where are Signature Bear 2008 and New Years' Bear "2009"?  Will Ty introduce them this year?

Last year (October 31, 2007 to be exact), Ty introduced the 2007 Signature Bear and New Year 2008 Bear (retail version).  Following soon afterwards (November 29, 2007) Ty introduced '2008 the Bear', a Ty Store Exclusive.  Guess we'll see soon enough ... as I said a few weeks ago,  It's just a random, curious thought.  Traditions don't always continue year-to-year, but I'm sure many collectors would love to see these bears again this year.   (Oh ! ... and Punxsutawney Phil?  Hmmmm!)

 ...   Holiday Ty Classics?
One of our readers sends us the following photos of two unidentified Ty Classics?  ... at least I'm not familiar with them anyway.  Maybe soon to be announced by Ty?  Feel free to send us a note if you can share any information on either of these.  (See notes below).

Jason writes:  hi there!  jason from pa here.   the classic on the right is actually the beanie buddy sport ......  i'm not too sure about the other one though.

Doodle's note ... Thanks, Jason.  I thought it looked familiar, but went through the lists several times and missed it.   We're still curious about the one on the left. :)
Added note ... Dec 10th ... Thanks to Rosaleen, who helped identify the cute puppy on the left ... it's the Ty Classic 'Moppet'.

 ...  Scooby Doo Beanie Baby
Scooby Doo first aired on CBS and can be traced back to Fred Silverman in 1969.  (I can still hear my daughter as a little girl, running through the house singing 'Scooby Dooby Doo', where are you?"

The Beanie Baby 'Scooby Doo' was introduced by Ty on September 2nd.  Our friend Sakurako of Japan (Bottega Beanies)  shares photos of this Beanie - quite adorable ... just check out that face! :)

 ...  (Silent) Introduction
On November 20th, we posted a photo shared by one of our readers of a new Ty Classic (yet to be announced).  Today, we now know what that Classic bear is.  ~~~S writes:

Hi Doodle, Me again.  Well, I finally found the Classic I sent you a photo of last week.  It's a Walgreens Exclusive and is listed on Ty's website as "Snuggs".  It must have just been put there today.  I will go back to Walgreens now and see if it has come in yet, probably will come in with the M & M Beanie Babies.  Thanks for keeping us "hooked on Ty" collectors informed with all your news.  What a great addiction / hobby, and a great website to visit!  Have a Happy Holiday! ~~~S.
