A Farewell Note
As we all know, there comes a
time when changes in our life occur - some by choice, some not.
Many of you know Daniel of Beanie Universe. he has run the Beanie Universe
website for almost four years. Daniel has informed us today that his
website will be closed in the next few days. We thank him immensely
for the time and effort he has put into the site, and the friendship we have
shared during that time. Daniel writes:
As of today, December 31, 2009, Beanie Universe will no longer be updated. The site will close down in the coming days. Since opening on March 17, 2006, this site was a blessing and an adventure. I started this web site with the hope to fulfill each person with a sense of fun and excitement when it came to Ty. The video news broadcast, "Beanie News at 7," along with Survivor and American Idol gave an innovative, new look at Ty Products. Back in 1996 when I received my first Beanie, I knew it was special. I built my collection to over 2,000 Ty Products. Then in 2008, I sold my collection to start a business. I decided to keep updating the site daily, though, in order to provide the Ty World with an asset. In the last few months, Ty has changed courses and has deviated from where he once was. News is limited and the original Beanie Babies will never be the same. As he started closing down parts of his old web site, I realized the end may not be near, but here. As I graduate college this May, I will move on to a new chapter in my life. I decided the time has come to move on and venture new avenues. I wish you all the best in wherever your life may take you next. I hope you can value your collection and the friends you meet along the way. My personal email is below if you ever have a question, comment, or would like to say "hello." As Ty Warner has said throughout his years at Ty and with what I will wish you today in your life; "Expect the Unexpected;" but most of all, take a moment each day to appreciate who and what you have in your life.

Ty MasterCard Merchandise
As you know, Ty Inc and Bank of America agreed to discontinue the
Ty Rewards Credit Card program, effective July 31, 2009. You could
continue to earn Ty Rewards when using your Ty MasterCard credit card for
purchases through your October 2009 statement closing date. After that
time, your account no longer earned Ty Rewards. You can only redeem your
Ty Rewards for available Ty merchandise through December 31, 2009. If not
redeemed by then, all earned rewards will be forfeited and will be invalid.

New Walgreens' Exclusives - Yummy, Smoothie, and Creamy
Thanks to one of our readers (Marty), the three Walgreens' bears
are Yummy, Smoothie, and Creamy ....
Hi, Deb. Saw your posting and called two of the Walgreens closest to me; both had the "Valentine bears" in stock. Even though the display box says $4.99 each, they each rang up for $3.99 -- and I didn't buy any of the candy. (Still have enough cookies, fudge and toffee on hand. LOL)
Each bear has silver candy kisses randomly printed on them and wears the satin kisses neck ribbon with aqua printing and the chocolate candy image. It looks to me like it's a new swing tag: tiny holographic stars to the right and left of the yellow "beanie babies" on the front of the tag. In addition, the swing tag designates them as Walgreens exclusives (inside left) and has the Hershey's logo. They also have the narrow two-sided tush tag.
Wish I could send pictures but my new digital camera is smarter than I am. I can take a picture but as yet can't get them to attach to emails. 8(

New Walgreens' Exclusives
Our thanks again to Rosaleen and Sandy, who shared the earlier
news of new (upcoming) Walgreens Exclusive Ty bears. 'The Sloth' has
done some research for us and found a picture of the bears on the Walgreens
website. (You can view them on the site by
clicking here.) The info shared by
Sandy yesterday states the bears will be available starting December 27th
(today). They appear to be the size of 'Baby Beanies'.

Rosaleen, who informs us that these new bears are FULL sized Beanies.

to Walgreens, Rosaleen adds the following:
Hi Deb,
I was just coming to email you about the NEW -I think they're new- bears in the Sunday paper Walgreens ad but I thought that I would check your site first and I see that somebody else has "beat me to the punch". Like the gal said they're very small but they do appear to be new. I must agree with her on the colors also they look like a white which is very easy to tell and the other two appear to be a chocolate brown perhaps and a wine red color. I will definitely be checking out the local Walgreens within the next day or two. Perhaps a lucky collector may find them before I do. They look to have a Hershey Kiss pattern on the fur.

Hi! I was just looking through the weekly sale papers and found something in the Walgreens ad starting December 27. It said if you buy 2 bags of certain Hershey candy, you can buy TY Hershey bear beanies for $3.99 each. There is a small picture of 3 bears I have never seen before. One was white, one was brown, and one was a red wine color. All 3 appear to have tiny silver Hershy kisses all over them with a silver ribbon around their necks. I was wondering if anyone else has seen this ad. I am in Aston, PA (southeast PA). Sandy

New Beanie / Ty Classic Information
On December 2nd. Ty introduced Beanie Babies 'Smitten', 'Lovely'
and 'Mischief', along with Hello Kitty Beanie Babies and Key-Clips. The Ty
Classic 'Isabella' was also introduced. They have not made it to Ty's
current listings yet. However, our special thanks to Rosaleen (aka
orangeicecream from Ty Talk) who shares style numbers, birthdays, and poems for
two of the Beanies and the Ty Classic she has found. She writes:

I was able to find two of the December releases today and I wanted to share their poems and some additional information with you. I wasn't able to locate Smitten YET! Just beneath the poem on the new beanies is also listed the date of their introduction for example
Lovely's poem is first followed by the Intro month being December 2009 followed by his date of birth being Sept. 27, 2009. His style number is 40806. The poem reads:
A wagging dog so cute and sweet
Is bringing you a special treat
Many warm hugs meant just for you
A more lovely pup you never knew!
Mischief has a style number of 40807 and his birthday is November 2, 2009

I have a big heart that I want to share

Hi Deb, Attached is an image from Atlanta’s AmericasMart’s “The Market Maker”, a 594 page book + supplements for their January 2010 wholesale merchandise market. In Ty’s “advertisement” for their booth, I see a new category called “Li’l ones”. The Atlanta market is the second week-end of January, with the Dallas market one week later. So perhaps some retailer attending will relate the details about Li’l ones then.

Past, Current, and Future
After posting the note earlier regarding little 'news' stirred by Ty lately,
we have received quite a few notes from readers, expressing their sadness on the
'mellowness' in Tyland. The basic consensus is, as you know ... none of us
ever expected Beanies to stay around forever. And surely we didn't
anticipate them to be around as long as they have. But to perk those who
still hope to see them linger a bit longer, there is hope. Ty Talk
Cyberboard and the BBOT are non-existent, as you know. They may come back
later, in a different format ... we always hold on to possibilities. But
we have been told that Ty will continue to make Beanies, at least for a while
longer. We can't expect the present (and future) to replicate the past,
although it's been an awesome 'ride'. Everything changes, as does Ty.
If you wish to share your thoughts, feel free to drop us a line. (I'll be
posting the notes on a separate page for all to read if interested.)

We're Here!
Yes, we're here! But apparently Ty is taking longer and longer
breaks. There is little if any news to share in Ty World. Many
readers, even if they didn't post on the Board, miss the Ty Talk / Cyberboard.
We have had no Beanie retirements since September (unless I missed something).
And the latest Beanies, introduced a week ago. have not even shown up on Ty's
current Beanie list. It's sad, somber days for many collectors,
especially those that have been around for a long time (myself included).
To slowly dissolve, without much chatter, is a bit depressing. BUT,
as we said, we're here to share any news that may happen. We're sure let
you know, as soon as we know! :D
In the meantime, enjoy
your holiday season ... and stay safe and warm! Back to my cookie baking!!

New Tush Tag?
One of our readers (Marty) kindly shares the following:
Hi Deb. I just got my four chipmunk beanies yesterday and noticed another change in the tush tags. They're still the double sided stiff vinyl, but they're definitely a larger version than the ones on the Hallmark holiday beanies (Spearmint and Peppermint); now 3/4 inch wide and 1-1/4 inch long and have a red "cut" line on the front bottom. Back also has the "cut" line and this wording:

About Ty... Smitten, Lovely and Mischief are not on the Ty list... does anyone know why?? And what kind of animal is Smitten.. hedgehog or what? ... I'm the Triple Lady and I wait very patiently each year to see if Ty will release a new matching threesomes for my collection... and HE DID!!! Hello Kitty (red overalls, pink shirt) is officially a triple which includes Beanie Baby, smaller version (key clip) and larger version (Classic)... I'm so tickled!! This Hello Kitty is actually a Quint since the key clip (metal) ... UK exclusive is different than the US key clip (plastic).

Four kinds of Beanie Boo's are sold in Sony PLAZA of Japan. This is the first time to sell in Japan. I was surprised to see them.
Ty Japan LLC moved from Yokohama to Tokyo. New Ty Japan is playing an active part.
