(Jason) shares photos of a Millennium Buddy signed by Ty Warner, and
writes:

... I wanted to share the attached photos of my newest
autographed/signed addition to my collection. Feel free to share on
your website if you would like. It is the Millennium Buddy given to the
TY account executives in 1999 at the TY sales conference. It is number
91 of 303 and signed with a gold paint pen.

New Ty Products - Ni Hao, Kai-lan
Series
Are you familiar with the Nickelodeon series
"Ni Hao, Kai-lan"? The
Nick Jr website explains the Show as
follows:
Ni Hao, Kai-lan is a play-along, think-along series
that weaves together Chinese language and culture, preschool-relatable
stories, and interactivity, with Kai-lan as your intimate friend and
playmate!
"Ni
hao!" That means "hi" in Chinese--and that's how Kai-lan greets you every
day! Kai-lan Chow is an exuberant Chinese-American preschooler, almost 6,
who wants you to come play with her and her best friends. Kai-lan's
world is infused with Chinese culture and is brimming with magical sights
and sounds, and everywhere you turn there's something amazing and beautiful

the 2004 teenie beanies Happy Meal 25 and Happy Meal 10 [red] are both
#1. Happy Meal #7 is browny orange. In 2000 teenie beanies there
was a Millennium employee bear. It opens like a beanie tag but is small
like a teenie tag. In 1999 teenie beanies packaging US Maple the
lake is frozen with skaters on it and Canada lake is open. [see ty
tracker 3 for pictures]

Did you know there have been 12 different
McDonald / Ty Teenie Beanie Baby promotions across the world, beginning
in April 1997 (10 TBB's in the USA) and ending in December 2006 (12
TBB's in Malaysia)? At least that's what I have come up with after

"Do you happen to
know if the packaging for the 1998 teenies and the 2000 American Trio
sold in Canada is different than the packaging for those sold in the US?
The 1999 and 2000 Canadian teenies do have different packaging, with the
names listed three times on the packages, once in English, once in
French, and I believe once in Spanish. (I would have to pull them out
again to be sure of the last.) I bought a 1998 set from someone in
Canada, but it looks just like the one sold in the US. I am not sure if
she bought them secondary or not."

Here
is a picture of a 2000 Canadian bag. The name is listed three times with

Ty Warner. Snootz's video has been showing Snootz and friends as
they venture through the office, finally reaching the desk of Ty Warner.

Ty Petz Officially Introduced
On January 1st, we posted photos of mysterious
Ty (mini) stuffed animals.
On January 21st, posted on the Ty website - "Coming Soon ... Ty Petz",
showing each of the three Petz. 'Little Lucky' (a
brown dog), 'Fabulous Fluffy' (a white dog), and 'Peppermint Princess'
(a pink kitten). On February 3rd, one of our readers stated that
these Petz were on display at the Spring Fair (NEC) 09 in the UK.
They were also on display at the Toy Fair 09 in New York this week.
Today, Ty has (finally) officially introduced these new Ty Girlz

Today, I found Maiden, Skunkers, and Duckers. With less and less stores
in the area carrying them, it has been a challenge to find them, so I
was a bit surprised to find three new ones in one day. I think that the
new beanies are becoming cuter and cuter. I especially like Skunkers.

Ty Girlz Auction?
One of our readers has suggested the following
idea:
Hi Doodle,
Just an idea but would it not be a better idea for TY to hold on to the
stocks of
Marvelous Malia" and
"Sweet Sasha" and then auction them
through a well known auction site with TY as the seller! This
way they will fetch a lot more money, which in turn would be passed on to
charities. I bet a lot of collectors would prefer it that way
and charities would benefit more as a lot more money would be generated than
retail cost. ...

definitely worth suggesting! In a
statement
issued by Ty Warner,
(about the same time both of the Ty Girlz retired), it was noted that Ty
would "donate 100% of the profits from sales of Marvelous Malia and Sweet
Sasha to the Andre Agassi Charitable Foundation, which is dedicated to
transforming U.S. public education for underserved youth." As
one of our readers asked "Did any Sasha and Malia Ty Girlz even ship? (
I did spot a couple of auctions, just a little over my price range :)

As an update to our post on January 31st, we
have been informed that Karen is now recuperating from her by-pass surgery
on Thursday, and is expected to be released from the hospital on Monday.

New Names for Ty Girlz 'Sasha' and 'Malia'

Malia dolls

The "Marvelous Malia" and
"Sweet Sasha" plush dolls that a Westmont-based
toy empire hawked while insisting they were not based on the
real-life Malia and Sasha Obama
will now go by the names
"Marvelous Mariah" and "Sweet Sydney."
On Monday, Ty Warner, founder and CEO of Ty, Inc., the Beanie Babies
empire based in Westmont, announced that the controversial pair had
been "retired" "in deference to the wishes of the First Family."
Last month, a spokeswoman for Michelle Obama criticized the company
for trying to make a buck off the girls, 10 and 7. A Ty
spokeswoman had originally said the Sasha and Malia dolls were based
on the Obama
sisters but later claimed they were not. The $9.99 dolls debuted
early last month.
Despite their new identities, the dolls themselves look exactly the
same.
Now if you bought them
while they were Sasha and Malia, should you call them Sydney and
Mariah or will that just confuse them?

Today Ty has officially announced
the two new BB2.0's ... 'Maiden' and 'Skunkers'. The new
BB2.0 ladybug 'Maiden' has now made it to Ty's current list, along with
the poem. ('Skunkers' was added to Ty's current list
yesterday.) All the names and poems, as well as the birthdays of
these two, are now noted on our February release page posted on January
30th.

Now Retired ...
To update our post earlier today,
the reason why Ty Girlz 'Malia' and 'Sasha' are not offered in Ty Store
- both are now retired. Rosaleen writes:
Hi Doodle,
I just finished reading your site and Perhaps you haven't noticed Malia and
Sasha are now retired on the Ty site. There is a flashing box at the bottom.
I had the feeling that they would be "short-lived" with all of the
controversary about them. I also read that a place in Chicago-I think
received them and sold out of them almost immediately.
