  ....  New Canadian Exclusive?
Rumors are abound of a new Canadian Exclusive Beanie Baby coming soon.  Robin writes:

Hi Doodle,  Thanks for continuing to keep us collectors updated with the news on what's happening.  I have checked your site (almost) every day for many years.  I just wanted to let you know that it looks like a new Canada Exclusive Beanie is going to show up soon.  I have read, on various internet sites, that a new Bear called "Deke" or "Deek" is coming, sounds like a Hockey Bear.  That would be awesome, as we haven't seen a hockey bear yet.  As you know, there have been football, softball, soccer, golf, etc. but no hockey sports Beanie.  I'll let you know if I hear anything more.  Thanks and have a GREAT week!!!  ~~Robin

... Thanks Robin, for sharing this news.  A Canadian retailer did report to Ms. Janie that they were able to order this bear (brown and holding a hockey puck).   We shall soon see!  Incidentally, a 'deke' or 'deking' in ice hockey is a "decoying or faking motion by the puck-carrier; the art of making a defensive player think you are going to pass or move in a certain direction when you are not".

  ....  The New York International Gift Fair
As you may be aware, Ty, Inc. will be attending The New York International Gift Fair this year at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center.  The Show begins January 28th and runs through February 2nd.  (Ty's booths are L1, 1930, 1932, 1934, 1936, 2031, 2033, 2035, 2037).  And just what may be up Ty's sleeve?  ... A new product line? ... A new Exclusive? ... New Additions to the existing lines?  My, how the imagination can wander!

  ....  Three Hallmark Exclusive Ty Easter Bunnies
One of our readers, Barbara, writes:

Hi - I just returned from my Hallmark Store with three flop eared rabbits that say they are Exclusive to Hallmark Gold Crown on the hang tag.  One is pink named "Hippily" with an embroidered easter egg on it's foot, one is blue named "Happily" with an embroidered easter egg on it's foot and the third one is yellow named "Hoppily" with an embroidered easter egg on it's foot.  Could not find any of them listed on TY.com.  Any other news about these three?

Doodle's Note:  Thanks for sharing your news, Barbara!  The poem variations are quite interesting!  These are Easter Bunnies anticipated to be Exclusive to Hallmark (Gold Crown?) Stores.  And you are correct.  They have not yet been announced on Ty's website.  You can visit the website Cindy's Beans where you can view a photo of this adorable threesome.  I imagine they will be introduced by Ty as the Easter holiday more closely approaches.

  ....   "When Is a Beanie Not a Beanie?" - Update
On Thursday, January 5th, one of our readers (Ian) wrote his opinion concerning the Beanie Baby 'Icepack'.  He had mentioned that this Beanie did not seem to have any 'beans'.  (A further note from him was received, stating there are "some" in his feet, but it is a "light Beanie".)   An additional note concerning 'Icepack' has also been received from Marcia, who writes:
Hi,  In response to Ian's email about Icepack, I felt the same way when I received it. I squeezed and squeezed the poor thing until it almost (popped). Then I picked it up by a paw what did I feel a bean or two in each paw. So I guess Icepack is a beanie after all.  I love your site read it every time I'm on my computer. Happy New Year.  Marcia

There have been a mass number of retirements and releases by Ty over the last several days.  Still to follow (presumably) is the January 2006 Desktop Wallpaper / Calendar.

The December 2005 BBOM, Flicker, is still listed as 'current' on Ty's website, and 'Icecubes', the January 2006 BBOM, is not yet posted on the 'currents' listing.  Generally, the past month's BBOM is retired once the new one is introduced.  Due to the holidays, it should move there soon.

Yet to be known is the winner of the 'poetry contest' on Ty's website, via the Ty Cyberboard.  (See December 31st news.)

It looks like a busy year ahead for Ty.  Anxious collectors wait with anticipation to see what's up Ty's sleeve next.  That IS part of the fun of collecting!   It is a 20 year celebration this year by Ty.   And in a couple of months, I will be celebrating 10 years of running the 'Doodle's Page' website.   Enjoy and best wishes again for a peaceful, happy, healthy 2006!
