... Did Ty Pay Too Much?
The following item by Mark van de Kamp, appears in today's Santa Barbara News-Press:
Some observers may wonder whether Beanie Babies magnate Ty Warner overpaid for the Sandpiper Golf Course. He closed escrow last week, buying the 18-hole links for $25 million. After all, people wondered if Mr. Warner overpaid for the Four Seasons Biltmore.

... We're Back
Last Friday, we decided at the spur of the moment to take a quick vacation.  In fact, we barely had time to pack and off we headed to the Coast.   We had a marvelous time visiting places we had never seen (even in our own state).  But back now, with a reality check of things to do.  (Thanks to all of you who sent your 'we miss you' emails :)

Below is a bit of the news that happened  while we were away.

Several Beanie sites have posted pictures of the newest Beanie 'Blue'.  This is quite a cute Bear, and apparently packed with some festive patriotic paper.

I did notice one photo of the 'Peace symbol' Bear, along with the various versions of 'Hero', which I enjoyed.  You may want to take a look at it (click here).

Saturday - June 21

... 'Blue' Retires

On Tuesday, Ty announced a new Ty Store Exclusive, 'Blue'.  Today, Ty retired this Beanie.  Should we anticipate 'White' soon?  Maybe by the 4th of July?  We shall see.

... Show Time
Tomorrow is the first day of the Dallas Gift Show at the World Trade Center.  The Show runs from June 20th to the 24th.   (See the 'Show guide' link above.)  Ty has announced that there will be 'new designs in all Ty product categories' at the Trade Shows this summer.  So just what can we 'expect' ... besides Bravo (the Beanie and Buddy set)?  What special surprises may lie ahead?  We shall soon see!

It was announced a few weeks ago that there would be no more Chubbley Bears.  Now we've been told that Chubbleys are returning, with new and different plans.  You can read more details on the Bears And Beans website.

... First 'Red', then 'Blue'?
If you have visited the Ty Cyberboard lately, you perhaps noticed a post "Did you see Blue .... ??????"  (Click here  to view the post.)  Noted within the various posts is the mention to go to 'Ty Search', 'current Beanie Babies', then click on 'bears', and select 'view printable list'.  (Click here to visit 'Ty Search'.)  However, since the initial posting, this 'Blue' bear has now been removed.  This apparently goes along with the suspicions and rumors of 'Red', 'Blue', and 'White' bears (with the paws and feet showing the designated colors.)

A card is being sent to Ty retailers, notifying them of Trade Shows this summer.  On the card is a picture of 'Bravo', a Beanie Baby and Buddy set.  A picture of this duo can be seen on Beanieholics site.

... Gosport and Fareham RUFC Sponsored by Ty Europe
TY Europe Limited, soft toy manufacturer entered into a 3 year sponsorship of Gosport and Fareham RUFC for a women’s rugby development scheme. A new team was created at the club for women aged 16 and over. Women were recruited from local colleges, the Navy (which was based nearby) and mothers whose children played in the junior section. The club were seeking to promote rugby as a family sport for all the community and sponsorship covered coaching, kit, equipment, referee courses, coach travel and advertising.

Year 2 saw the introduction of two new tag rugby competitions for girls aged 1216. TY Europe used the sponsorship to increase brand awareness within the community and both the sponsor and Sportsmatch received branding on all kit and equipment, programme advertising and mention in the local press

Have you visited Ty Store today?  If so, you may have noticed a slight change in the 'look'.  A Father's Day graphic has replaced the 'Hero' animation graphic.  Maybe a new offering at the 'store' soon as well?  We shall see :)

Doodle's note:  I have no clue, Sandra.  An interesting thought.  The retirement of Ty products is sometimes 'expected' by us, some times 'unexpected'.  Maybe soon?  I guess we shall see.
