The Ty Store Exclusive Beanie Baby 'O'Lucky' was introduced on February 2, 2007.  This St. Patrick's themed bear was listed as "sold out" on June 1st.  Today it has now been noted on Ty's website as "retired".

 ...  'KnOWLedge' Introduced
As many collectors know, KnOWLedge the Owl has appeared at several Borders bookstores.  (See news of June 1st below.)  Today, Ty officially introduces this Beanie Baby, "available exclusively at Borders" bookstores.  One of our readers, Tammy, was curious in the possible difference in KnOWLedge and Snowdrop Beanie Babies.  She writes:
Hi Deb /// I sure wish I was set up with a digital camera--one of these days............  Anyway I did purchase the "Knowledge" beanie today from Borders Books and it is the exact same owl as "Snowdrop"  from the Ty store.  It has a different tush and hang tag.  I also received the new elephant beanie from the St. Louis Zoo and it is the same beanie as "Shocks" with the "Shocks" tush tag but the "Maliha & Jade" hang tag.  Hope this helps for anyone else inquiring.  Thanks,  Tammy

Today Ty retires two UK Exclusive Beanie Babies ... 'Kernow' (Key-Clip) and 'Piran'.  Both were introduced last Tuesday, May 29th.  (All three versions of 'Piran' are considered to be retired ... black nose, flag nose (more rare), and Abbey Bears Exclusive (different hang tag & style #).

 ...  One 7-Year-Old Gives Stuffed Duck to Another

It can be hard to part with a favorite stuffed animal. Just ask two young Aurora girls faced with that dilemma.   But like the fairy tale characters stuffed animals often depict, both kids today are living happily ever after.

A long time ago -- seven years to be exact -- Oak Brook-based Ty Inc. donated a batch of Beanie Buddy ducks to Aurora's Rush-Copley Medical Center. The ducks were then given out one by one to pediatric patients and newborns.   Lauren Brooks, 7, received one when she was born. So did 7-year-old Kiairra Cannon. Although the girls had never met, they had something in common: they cherished the ducks they were given when they were just babies.   On March 23, Kiairra's home was destroyed by a fire. She and her mother, Jamie Scribner, and her 4-year-old brother, Latron, got out of the house safely.  Kiairra acted quickly and alerted everyone to the smoke, but the fire burned up most of the family's possessions, including Kiairra's beloved stuffed buddy.  .....

Lauren's mom, Sharon Brooks, works at the hospital, and when she heard about Scribner's plight, she thought she might be able to help. Ty Inc. no longer makes the duck, so Brooks appealed to her daughter.   "I told her their story, that it was her decision to make, that she should decide what to do, and I told her to think about it," Brooks said. "She has a bear named Fiesta that is her absolute favorite, so I said, 'Think about if you lost Fiesta and somebody had a replacement Fiesta for you, wouldn't you hope that they had it in their heart to give it to you?'"   Lauren agreed to give up her duck, and her 9-year-old sister, Jillian, gave up some stuffed bears from her collection for Kiairra's brother.   Scribner said she quickly received a call back from the hospital, letting her know that a duck was donated.   "It was just real nice of that little girl," she said. "I offered to buy it, and they just gave it to us. It was important to me that my daughter felt better."   Donations for Kiairra and her family may be made through the Kane County Teachers Credit Union, Attn: Antron Cannon, 320 E. Indian Trial, Aurora, IL 60505. A fairy tale ending
