... Mom-e ... Where are You?
Did you order the Mom-e Bear from Ty Store and have not received your shipment yet? Does it still state 'confirmed'? 'Sandra' writes:

Hi Deb ... I just wanted to let you know the status of my order for Mom-e bear (which of course is now retired). The Bear was introduced on Friday, I ordered two on Sunday (along with white America ... supposedly with 'reversed' ears), and received confirmation of the order shortly after midnight. The next day it retired. The confirmation email stated "Thank you for shopping with us.  Please allow 8 to 12 weeks for shipping. At this time we anticipate MOM-e will ship prior to May 7th, 2002." My order still reads 'confirmed'. In the meantime, on May 1st, I ordered the Tradee Buddy, with a shipment confirmation on May 7th, and received it last week! I wrote Ty yesterday inquiring about the Mom-e order and got a response (this morning) stating: "Recently, you sent us an e-mail requesting the status of your Ty Store order. Our records indicate your order # 646XXXX is confirmed in our system and has not shipped. We anticipated that MOM-e should ship prior to May 7th, 2002. Please allow up to 8 - 12 weeks for shipment, although many orders are shipping sooner."

I guess 'anticipate' is the key word there. Hopefully I will get a shipment confirmation soon. Just wanted to let you know, in case there are people out there still waiting for theie Mom-e bear(s) to ship. By the way, my Dad-e bear order now states 'confirmed' as well ... guess I'll just have to sit and wait for Mom-e and Dad-e to come home. :)

By the way, love your site ... and thanks for letting me 'vent'. I shall patiently wait ... at least my order wasn't cancelled ... And at least Ty responded to my email quickly! 'Sandra'.

...  Why the name 'Striker' ?
12:15 am EDT ... So are you curious?  ... Where did the recently announced 'Striker' Beanie Bopper get his name?  We noticed that the picture of this Bopper shows a number 10 on his shorts.  'Tammy'  sends us the following email:

Hi Deb,  FYI--The Beanie Bopper Striker started showing up on ebay a couple of days ago with gold shoes on and the Ty site photo has it with white shoes.  On Friday I picked up the new issue of Mary Beth's Beanies and it has a picture of Striker in it with the gold shoes on!  So I bid on and won one with gold shoes today and asked the seller what she knew about the significance of the gold shoes.  She emailed me back and said that Striker is supposed to be Michael Owen a Liverpool player who is one of Englands best goal scorers.  And the #10 on Striker's shorts is Michael's number.  He won a Golden Boot award last year in some European Soccer Championships.  I don't know if you knew any of this so I thought I would pass it on.  Hopefully she gave me correct information???  Regards,  Tammy

Well, we do know ... Michael Owen (nicknamed 'Midget Gem') is targeting for the 'Golden Boot' award.  His shirt number - 10; position - striker.

The 'BBC Sport - World Cup 2002 website reports:
England striker Michael Owen has declared his desire to end this summer's World Cup as top goalscorer. Owen, who was named European footballer of the year in December, is one of the leading candidates to become the tournament's top marksman. Though he puts success for England ahead of personal glory, he accepts that both could go hand in hand/ "The Golden Boot is obviously a great award to win and not many strikers have won it," Owen explained.

9:10 pm EDT ... Now THAT was quick! Yesterday afternoon, 'Dad-e' was introduced by Ty and available to order through Ty Store. This evening 'Dad-e' Bear is now marked as retired. Now Ty just needs to remove the newsflash of the introduction from the main page. (Thanks to Nancy K. for letting us know. We actually thought it would at least be around until Monday. Following in the footsteps of 'Mom-e', perhaps many ordered right away, expecting it to retire quickly as well.)

... Beanie Boppers (Update ...and More)

Hi!  I saw your request for Bopper Style Numbers.  I don't have all of them, but here's what I have: (nine names and numbers were provided and inserted on the Beanie Bopper page).

A quick note on Lovely Lily,  the Ty photo shows her in pigtails.  The Lily that I have has a ponytail.  I've checked several places for the pigtail version, but I have not seen that hairstyle version in my area.

Another quick note,  I've enjoyed the new "Coloring Pages" on the Ty website.  The artwork is darling, especially for the Beanie Boppers.  I noticed that Osito's Coloring Page looks a little out of character.  I think that is a shoji screen in the background and he appears to have chopsticks in his bowl.  Neither of the Sakuras nor Nipponia have "Coloring Pages."

And my last quick note, Ty gave me a great surprise yesterday.  One of the questions that I submitted to "Ask Ty" was actually chosen!  My Ty ID is JoyBeann, and mine is the second question, the one about having Beanies in the Smithsonian.  It doesn't look like my question is very popular among the voters.  But, I do think it is a question that Ty will answer with something more that a coy "expect-the-unexpected."  And, it let's him know that we (Beanie Lovers) think of Ty and Ty product as more than just a toy, but also a part of our culture.

... Beanie Bopper Promo - Two Weeks Away
12:30 am EDT ... On February 6th, we posted exclusive news of the Chicago Cubs Promo, which stated: "Beanie Boppers featuring exclusive Ty Gear with Cubs Road Uniform would be given away to the first 7,000 children (commemorative card included)" ... on June 1, 2002. That's two weeks from today! Currently, no specific name has been posted for this new Bopper on the Chicago Cubs site. (Last year, the Chicago Cubs Promo Bopper 'Ivy Leaguer' was announced on Ty's website on September 30th ... the same day it was given away at the game. It officially retired on October 2nd.)

... Ty Store Shipment Arrives in the UK
1:30 pm EDT ... 'DJ' has written to us with an update of his recent purchase from Ty Store:

Hi Debs,   I informed you on May 10th that I had received confirmation of shipping from Ty Store. Today May 16th I received the Red America Bears and the White America Bears that I'd ordered, and as hoped, the White America Bears were the ones with the 'Reversed ears'. All bears are in perfect condition and no tags are damaged.   One thing I have noted, it may have been cheaper at the time to purchase them from Ty Store, but by the time they were actually received they are approx. the same price to buy from secondary stores here in the UK. I'm unaware of Ty Stores returns policy for damaged goods arriving in the UK, if we had to pay for return postage to the USA to return damaged items for replacements I'm sure it would be far more cost effective to purchase the items in the UK, even if at a little higher cost.   Regards, DJ

Wow, DJ, that is quick! I have a friend (in the U.S.) who ordered two Mom-e Bears and a white America (reversed ears) on April 14th and still has not received a shipment confirmation. The order still states 'confirmed' ... and that was over a month ago.

I am also unaware of Ty's return shipment policy in the UK, but would imagine it is the same as in the U.S. ... you would pay the return postage.

We received information earlier that Iguanas.com has recently purchased Wallos.com and JJBean, Inc. We have now been told that they have purchased PBBAGS (Professional Bean Bag Authentication and Grading Service). As of May 10th, 2002, PBBAGS has transferred ownership; all final steps have been completed. The new owners have vowed to carry on the authentication service, plus several new updates. A new facility (in the Chicagoland area, near Woodfield Mall) will provide same day service, while-you-wait authentication, and more.

As many of you know, this years marks the 100th Anniversary of the Teddy Bear. Several companies are making a special bear to commemorate this special year ... perhaps Ty is one as well?

Sly mentions to Ms Janie of finding another Ty trademark ... 'Teddybearsary', listing plush toys as the goods and services. Perhaps a 100th Anniversary bear coming this year from Ty?

... All is Quiet
So far today seems to be a quiet day at 'Tyland'. Many anticipate some retirements soon ... I suppose we shall wait and see.

While updating some of the lists on our site, we noticed some interesting facts you might want to take note of ...

Large and X-large Schweetheart Buddies, as well as Sneaky, were among 21 Buddies introduced at the Dallas Gift Show in June 2000. These are the only three left from that group to still remain current, and also the 'oldest' Buddies yet to retire. X-large Dotty follows closely behind ... 22 Buddies were released on January 1, 2001 - with this Buddy the only one still current from that group. As you know, retirements by Ty are sometimes quite unpredictable; we just wonder why these still remain current.

1:00 am EDT ... In case you hadn't noticed, and want something for the kids to do on a rainy day, there are 'coloring page' buttons at the top of each individual Beanie on Ty's site. Just click on it and voila ... you can print out your favorite Beanie Baby to color. (There are still some that need to be added.) Just go to the Ty website and click on 'Beanie Babies' or click on the link below.

... Asia Pacific Flower Buddies?
2:30 pm EDT ... Will the six Asia Pacific Beanies be retiring soon? Will they be released in the Buddy version? Martin informs us that the Tokyo Toy Fair, held May 9 - 12th, may have some interesting surprises in store for collectors. :) We say no more ... just keep watching. Let's wait and see what Ty has in store for us next!

Today is a pretty slow news day, so I thought it would be fun to share with you what a very creative reader sent into me last night.  Did any of you have thoughts like this....? --> Chain Gang...? LOL @ this next piece. :) I had shown the set of liberty beanies to my hubby & he said exactly: "Looks like they just got out of jail!"

Am I the only person who thinks the blue and white face Liberty bears look like escapees from a chain gang??? The blue face Liberty is beautiful!!! But the other ones....REALLY poor design choice. We're supposed to "line them up and see how beautiful the flag can be?" Oh, please! Two of them look like jail house inmates!

Hi Deb ... I'm soooo excited. I walked into my local retailer and found some of the newest Beanies and Buddies already. I have never been THAT lucky LOL. I purchased ALL three Liberty Beanies ... they are adorable when put together - looks like the American flag. I also bought the Bride Beanie, they didn't get the Groom yet. But that's ok ... I was estastic and had to try very hard not to scream with excitement in the middle of the store. :) I also purchased the USA Buddy. With all the rush of excitement, I'm not even sure what else was there LOL (I did see some Champion Beanies though.) Anyway, just wanted to share the news. I'll try and send pics later this evening. (I did notice that the official introduction yesterday mentioned 'Lovely Lily' as a new Bopper ... the current section has her listed as 'Lovely Lilly' (probably just a typo on one of them.) The list of Beanie Boppers on our site has been updated now ... just waiting to fill in some additional information when it becomes available. ... Herder - Ribbon?

Good Morning--
I didn't notice earlier this month when various Beanie sites posted pictures from the Ty retailer's catalog of the APRIL 2002 new releases that Herder the sheepdog is wearing a translucent yellow/pink/purple ribbon around his neck.  I think the ribbon is much more noticible in the pages from the MAY 2002 retailer catalog.  I have attached two shots from the retailer catalog both of which were taken from Ms. Janie's site.  The final attachment is a pic that came directly from the Ty site (or go to: Click here for direct link which also shows Herder wearing the ribbon.  Has anyone yet seen a Herder that sports ANY kind of ribbon around his neck or is this something like the pink ribbon/blue ribbon Kissme fiasco?  Just curious as I haven't seen anyone else bring attention to this discrepancy.  I have to make sure I don't miss anything as Ty's been moving pretty darn fast lately in terms of variations, quick-changes and the like.  Any information/input would be appreciated.  Thanks for your time.
