.... CHERISH Auctions - Update
Sue Owen shares the following:

I hope that you had as much fun following the CHERISH Championship as I did last week! The match reports and photos are still linked from the Home Page at http://www.cherishonline.co.uk if you missed them. All the special edition packages will be on their way this week, including the prizes for the winners. Thanks to all for helping to raise in excess of £300 for the Tackling Testicular Cancer campaign!

Just a note to let you know that the series of CHERISH Sports Themed Auctions in aid of Research into Men's Cancers have started. These include some signed Chubbley Bears (a Teddy Sheringham signed Teddy!), a Japanese 'Toda' signed Japan Champion Bear and several Japanese sports commemorative sets.

The eight items currently listed are 5 day auctions, scheduled to close next Sunday 5th June.

Following those will be more on this theme. Each week will have a different commemorative card to accompany the items sold. This week's theme is 'Tackling Testicular Cancer' and a large postcard size card and magnet are included with each item, as well as a stress football and 'Blue Boy' official Cancer Research UK campaign pin badge. The pin and football will be included with ALL items sold.

.... 'Marshall' from Arlington Park Race Track
Today the Arlington Park Rack Track gave away a 'Marshall' Beanie Baby to the first 5,000 paid admissions to the track. In addition to the regular hang tag, this Beanie also includes an extra tag from Arlington Park. A reader has sent Ms. Janie photos of this Beanie, which can be viewed by clicking here.

.... New June Ty Products?
'Rumors' are stirring of new Ty products for June. Of course, they're considered rumors until officially announced by Ty, but quite interesting to read what may be just around the corner (possibly as early as tomorrow). A post on the Ty Cyberboard mentions new Beanie Babies, Beanie Buddies, Pinkys, and Classics.

.... Pinky 'Delights' and More
Marilyn reports to us of receiving her Ty Store Exclusive Pinky 'Delights', with all four that she ordered having the PINK Pinkys Ty hang tag and regular white tush tag. (See also yesterday's news.) For pictures of this Pinky, along with a hang tag photo, click here.

She also includes photos of the Ty Store Exclusive Beanie Baby 'Smarty', and writes ...
Smarty has a style number of 44050. I presume the tissue with the gold & silver stars belongs to him, but obviously, I can't be sure. I put the floral tissue with Delights. Happy Holiday weekend everyone! Marilyn

.... 'Delights' Hang Tag
On May 19th, we posted news that 'Delights (a Ty Store Exclusive introduced by Ty on May 5th) sported a RED Beanie Baby hang tag, not the regular PINK tag that accompanies a typical Pinky. It looks like the hang tag of this 'Pinky' has now changed, and is being shipped with a PINK (Pinky) hang tag. Apparently the tush tag remains unchanged, and is still white. (A Pinky has a PINK tush tag.) So does that mean 'Delights' is half Pinky and half Beanie Baby ... should we now call it a "Pinky Baby"? :) A Ty Cyberboard post reads the following:

News is a little slow these last few days. But we do have the anticipation of retirement announcements (probably very soon), along with soon-to-be-announced June Ty product releases, the June BBOTM (for Beanie of the Month members), and more. We'll surely let you know when news happens, as it happens.

In the meantime, many are making plans in the U.S. for a Memorial Day holiday weekend ... relax and enjoy.

.... Where is Angeline?
On Friday, March 4th, Ty officially introduced 'Angeline', following the debut at several Trade Shows. The question many collectors have is ... "Where is she?" To our knowledge, this cute lil' doll has yet to show up at retail stores. Perhaps retailers will soon be able to order 'Angeline' for June delivery. For many, the hopes and curiosity are definitely elevated.

.... More on 'Delights'
Apparently there is still some confusion regarding the Pinky Ty Store Exclusive 'Delights'. Sandra writes:
Hi Deb, Regarding the news that was posted yesterday, I noticed the Beanie Baby hang tag on Delights right away as I remembered Ty offering this originally as a PINKY. I thought - "Well, that tag is really going to stick out like a sore thumb with all my other Pinkys since they have PINK tags." Well, I checked on my order and the status changed. It had read 'processing' and now it reads 'submitted'. Maybe Ty is correcting this 'error' and is delaying the shipment until new tags are available in PINK. Of course, this may mean that if you get a Delights with a red tag, you may have the more 'rare version' if in fact this is what Ty is up to. Thanks for your wonderful site and keeping us collectors informed. Great job! ~~Sandra

... Thanks for sharing, Sandra. That's an interesting thought and could quite possibly be the case. I guess we shall soon find out.

.... Pinky With a Beanie Baby Tag
Yesterday Ms. Janie shared a photo of 'Delights', introduced by Ty on May 5th as a Ty Store Exclusive 'Pinky'. What is interesting in the photo is that this Bear sports a RED Beanie Baby hang tag, not the regular PINK tag that accompanies a typical Pinky.

Sakurako of Japan (Bottega Beanies) shares photos of the three (UK) Pinkys ... Ratzo, Glitters, and Taffeta. Sparkles, (introduced by Ty on April 29th) is also included in the photo. This Pinky, available outside the UK as well, is the one in the center with the big pink nose.)

Today Ty introduces 'Dad', a Ty Store Exclusive Beanie Baby. On April 29, 2005, Ty introduced a retail version of this Bear. (There are slight variations in both of these versions ... the DAD lettering and the bow tie are different colors.)

Wishing a Happy Mother's Day to all mothers who are celebrating their special day today!
Just a reminder that the CHERISH May Queen Series 2005 auctions close later today. Each item comes with a specially created ear tag and commemorative card as well as many other interesting extras from various parts of the world - so as well as the Beanie you are bidding on other items that you might not be able to find easily. All proceeds from these auctions will go to research into women's cancers.

Coming soon will be the CHERISH campaign 'Kicking Men's Cancers into Touch', which begins with a special edition and auctions in support of the offical Cancer Research Campaign 'Tackling Testicular Cancer'. This first part of the campaign will focus on ball sports and after that other sports-related collectables will be sold by auction in aid of research into men's cancers. Many of the items that will be offered would be wonderful additions to a Ty collection or perfect and unusual Father's Day gifts.

.... Interesting Fact
Most of us like a bit of trivia occasionally. And since Beanie news is a bit slow, I took the opportunity to 'primp' a few pages of the site. While looking over our Beanie Buddy history page (which is currently quite lengthy), I noticed a few 'current' Buddies that most would have expected to be retired by now. It seems the oldest Buddies yet to retire are (large) and (extra large) Schweethearts. Both these Buddies were introduced on July 10, 2000. Unity Buddy follows, having been introduced on October 1, 2001. Now that's a long lifetime for any Ty product. Just one of those things that make you go 'hmmmmm'.

Happy May Day!
Traditionally in England on May Day dancing takes place around the maypole on the village green. A May Queen is chosen from the pretty girls of the village and often some special attendants. Although this is not so common nowadays it is nonetheless a lovely tradition and one of which I was reminded recently when some lovely Beanies arrived, dressed by April Dowling and her students in the USA and also some by Miho Yamamoto from Japan. I added another dressed beanie, gift-boxed some Mom-e Beanies with some wonderful cancer awareness items (many donated by Heather Softley of Canada) and finally added a special promotional Joaquim Beanie from a store in Japan that deserved to be dancing around the maypole in her pretty pink polo shirt!
There are so many pretty items added to each of these Beanie Packages, all of which are being auctioned in aid of research into women's cancers. There are many detailed photographs on the CHERISH website at www.cherishonline.co.uk, covering several pages so that each page doen't take so long to load.
