Tomorrow ... December!
Most
people, including myself, find it amazing that tomorrow is the
first day of December! Seems we just returned from our summer
vacation at the Coast. The time seems to fly quicker every year!
Perhaps we get so wrapped up in our busy robotic lives that the
days sometimes just seem to run together? This has been an
eventful year for many, perhaps with lost jobs, lost loved ones,
and a true test of our patronage and caring for each other. This
year we will continue our family tradition at Christmas ...
neighborhood caroling, visiting the Church live navity scene,
baking for a needy family, and riding around the city on
Christmas Eve ... admiring the twinkling lights and the
peacefulness that seems to sit in on that night. But it will be
different, in it's own special way.
If you have a special tradition that you will be carrying out during this holiday season (or perhaps you're doing something a little different this year) , we would like to hear it. If possible, we would like to post your 'story' to share with others. No matter what your religion or faith, just remember to 'share your cares' with others! Happy Holidays and enjoy the season.

Night Before Christmas???
Doesn't
it seem a bit like the night before Christmas? ...
'Not a creature is stirring, not even a mouse!'
It's very quiet, so silent I heard a pin drop (and that was
downstairs). With the holidays coming upon us, perhaps we should
actually enjoy the calm though, as it's sometimes followed by a
'storm'. (I did notice the Ty Cyberboard has not been updated
since around 1:00 yesterday afternoon.) Perhaps that 'sizzle'
from Ty soon? By the way, the definition of 'sizzle' ... (1) to
make the hissing sound characteristic of frying fat or (2) to be
very hot. As the second definition sounds more appropriate ...
perhaps some 'hot' news soon? Wait and see! :)

Christmas 'Ty Gear' Shipping

recalled Noelle, the Beanie Kid. It’s reported that some
samples of the Kid ‘do not meet the European Standards
applicable to toys in one respect’. From the letter sent to
Ty Europe accounts, it appears that it’s the ‘holly
hair ties’ that are the problem.

The list begins with Lionel train sets (in 1900) to Matchbox cars

Sakura, created as a Japanese exclusive, was the first all pink Beanie Baby bear.

a little shopping!
I
told myself there was no way I was venturing to a shopping mall
Friday ... known as 'the busiest' shopping day of the year. So, I
didn't! BUT ... with relatives in town, we did decide to walk off
a little Thanksgiving dinner and visit some smaller gift shops.
Naturally, that magnetic force also drew me to a couple of
Hallmarks. I did manage to pick up the "Kiss Kiss" Bear
set (a great deal when you buy 3 Hallmark cards ... and too
cute!). (Have you seen the huge 42" ones?) I guess that was
my 'fix' since 'America', Jingle Beanies, Holiday Heidi, etc. are
still 'in hiding' around here!

Tuesday, a UK reader informed us of an email received from Ty
regarding the BBOC offer. John S. in Canada has also received the
same email. We do find it interesting that these BBOC members are
being told of the Exclusive Offer being 'expired' on December
14th, but are still unable to order through the BBOC. It's highly
probable that the emails don't designate which specific country
you are in. Maybe Ty is planning on offering it to other
countries soon? They would definitely add some 'sizzle' for our
friends around the world.

was a quiet day ... no 'new' news to post. Our day was spent at
the grocery store (TWO hours!), a quick (magnetic draw) visit to
the Hallmark (still looking for 'America' and those Jingle
Beanies!), and cleaning / cooking for relatives coming (soon!).
At least it was a day out of the office, and we did have fun in
the kitchen. (Now to clean up the mess 'again' ... my kids and
flour - not a good combination!)
We will be spending time with family and friends today. However,
if there's any special news we feel you would like to know, we
will surely keep you posted. Enjoy your Thanksgiving Day, be

customers to take a walk down "Animal Alley" this
holiday season and celebrate the introduction of a new
one-of-a-kind Happy Meal. The eight mini-versions of the popular
Toys "R" Us plush line will be made available when this
Happy Meal debuts at participating restaurants nationwide from
November 30 - December 27. The "Animal Alley" pals in
the Happy Meal will include pals such as Darby the dog, Sable the

"Mosura" will be made in addition to
"Godzilla" and "King Ghidorah". No mention
was made as to whether it would be a Ty Classic as the other two
are, and has yet to be announced by Ty. He mentions that
"Mosura" will be available by 'mail order only',
although Godzilla and King Ghidorah will be sold at the movie
theatres. (The reason ... "Toho states it is 'a problem in
the manufacturing process' ".) All three may eventually be
sold at retail stores in Japan, after the movie 'finishes'. (Please
keep in mind that this should be considered as 'rumor' only until
officially introduced by Ty!)

'White Lion Project Gains Fame'

am EST ... The project at Connor High School to save endangered
white lions has garnered national recognition. The service
project was one of 10 cited nationally at a recent conference. As
part of their efforts, the students have asked the maker of
Beanie Babies to feature the white lion as its next 'model' and
requested that the U.S. Postal Service design a stamp featuring

30th Anniversary of WWF Japan (World Wide
for Nature). (Financial contributions were used for nature
conservation via the WWF Japan.) ... Being an endangered species,

Representatives
of Beanie Babies billionaire Ty Warner say his plans to revamp
the Four Seasons Biltmore Hotel in Montecito and put a
semi-private spa on adjacent property won't increase traffic in
that seaside neighborhood. Unconvinced, a growing chorus of
neighbors are objecting to the proposed renovations, which are
still probably a year or more away from being approved or denied
by the county Planning Commission.

... Today was 'Christmas Show' Time

... As I felt a need to 'take a break' today, and since my
husband 'begged' me to go (ok, I really had to talk him into
it!!), I spent the afternoon at the Southern Christmas Show (in
Charlotte, NC). I must admit, it definitely puts you in 'the
Christmas spirit', with the twinkling of lights, the aroma of
apples and cinnamon, and the holiday musical sounds. One
disappointment was the absence of Beanies ... well, the ones I
was hoping to find anyway. There were no Jingle Beanies, no
America, and just a few Holiday Bears. Perhaps I just visited the
'wrong' booths ... Maybe hovering over the delicious candies and
coffees was a bit of a 'time spender' :) At any rate, I enjoyed
the day and am ready to get that Christmas tree up now (well, not
quite yet!) ... I need to find those Jingles first :) ... and
work on the Thanksgiving dinner preparations!!! Relatives will be
rolling in from out of town soon. Oh my gosh, that's next week!
Where's my maid and cook ?!!!
... Baby Ty has New Material

... Many collectors noticed a 'difference' in the appearance of
Baby Ty, when the newest releases were announced recently.
However, pictures vs the 'real thing' can sometimes be quite
different. (They're usually much nicer 'in person'.) Beanieholics reported yesterday that they had a
chance to see (and feel) the new Baby Ty, stating 'we don't know
if softer than feathers do it justice'. (It was followed up today
with news that the tush tag reads "Ty Hair", a new
fabric introduced by Ty.) Ms Janie has posted photos of a new

... Jingle Beanies in Japan (Variations)

... Kooler has provided us once again with some more interesting
news in the latest Beanie 'happenings' in Japan. The Jingle
Beanies have shown up there ... and appear to have a variation
(at least in the 'Bear Jingles'). As I do not have a 'USA' Jingle
Beanie for comparison, it appears on the Ty site that the Jingle
Bears have 'fabric' noses. (A friend confirms that her 99 Holiday Teddy does have a fabric nose, found here in the
U.S.) Kooler
advises us that the nose of his 97 AND 99 Holiday Teddy Jingles both have 'plastic' noses, whereas the 98 Holiday Teddy has
an "embroidered" (fabric) nose. (He
is unsure if all the Bears are the same as his, but will keep us
updated.)

nine-year-old Edmonton-area girl is selling almost all her Beanie
Babies toy collection to raise money for children in war-torn
Afghanistan. "I feel sorry for them. They're starving so I
want to help them," Jordan Gibbins said yesterday. The Grade
4 student from Spruce Grove, 27 km west of Edmonton, came up with
the idea in mid-October after her mom told her U.S. President
George Bush asked American children to help feed their
counterparts in Afghanistan. Gibbins decided she should do her
part and got her classmates and teachers at Meridian Heights
School in Stony Plain to help her out. The school began a Beanie
Babies sale on Oct. 22, which ended yesterday, raising about
$800, she said.

'Bean
Bag World' Magazine reported a story to us (see Friday's news) of
the unveiling of 'America' Bear in the UK. Chosen for the honor
of receiving the first America Bears in the UK was Paul Burrell
(former Butler to Princess Diana) at the opening of his new
Flower and Gift Shop in Holt, Wrexham. (An 'America' Bear signed
by Paul is listed on an eBay
auction here.)

Store - Japan (Anniversary Update)

pm EST ... Ty Store (Japan) opened on November 3, 2000, and
celebrated their 1st Anniversary today. Kooler reports visiting
the Store today ... and came home with an accessory attached to a
cellular phone. (The Buddy that was expected to show up
(presumably Black Batty) was not available. A person dressed as
'Quackers' is a cute sight to see, though, standing in front of
the Store.

... Bongo Promo in Japan - Promo #3! (Update)

am EST ... We first reported Exclusive news on July 21st, of the
first Sports Promo in Japan. At that time, Kicks Beanie Baby was
given out to the first 3,000 women and children who attended the
Shimizu S-Pulse soccer game. There was no promotional tag,
however a card did accompany the Kicks Beanie. On September 29th,
the same soccer team again distributed a Sports Promo Beanie ... Quackers (given to the
first 5,000 women and children) along with a similar card.
Today,
Ty Japan offered a 3rd Promo Beanie Baby! 'Bongo' the monkey was
distributed in a game of the Yokohama F-Marinos (J-League). This
Beanie Baby was distributed to the first 15,000 women and
children who attend the game of the 'F-Marinos' vs Antlers',
November 3, 2001. Kooler of 'Bean Book' attended the game, noting
that although a special 'tag' was not attached to Bongo, a card
did accompany it (two types shown). (The final score, by the way:
Antlers won 2-1.)

America Bears Unveiled in the UK

America Bears have just been unveiled in the UK!
Chosen for the honour of receiving the very first America bears
to land in this country was Paul Burrell, the former Butler to
Diana, Princess of Wales, at the opening of his new flower and
gift shop on the Cheshire/Wales border this morning.
As a member of the Princess of Wales Memorial Fund, Paul had
recognised the power of charity Beanies when he accepted some $22
million for the fund raised through the sale of Princess Beanie
Launching America, he said he felt it a real honour to be able to
be involved in some small way and he hoped that the proceeds from
this wonderful Beanie would bring help to so many people, as
Princess Beanie had been able to
Paul kindly signed the first America Beanie for CHhugs
(Children's Hospice Hugs), Bean Bag World's sponsored
charity. This Beanie will be placed on auction on eBay
within the next few hours to raise needed funds for the work of
CHhugs
There will be a full report, with photographs, in the January
issue of Bean Bag World magazine, due out early December 2001

UK Signed America On Auction
As mentioned
in the above report, the Paul Burrell signed America Bear is now
on auction. ALL proceeds from the sale of this auction of America
