Hi Deb...We are back from our vacation to the Pocono's in PA. While I was gone...several items arrived here...one was the darling special issue Boyd's bear...for Cherish that Sue Owen handles. Here is a picture of this darling bear. The little pink bag he is holding has the Cherish cancer pin in it and a pink balloon! Sue really does a good job with her fund raiser projects. Hope you can use the picture.  While away....I found..on my 'hunt'...Hawthorne beanie and I Love PA beanie!  Hope you are feeling well now.  Love, Cathie :)

Drop-off points for dolls will begin collecting the Beanie Babies in November, continuing through Thanksgiving."

Hi,
Now that my feet are touching the ground (only just!) after the fantastic news of my lucky win in the Ty Halloween Daily Drawing yesterday, I wanted to let you know the little bit of information that I found out yesterday in Harrods.

The staff seem to know nothing more than I do - BUT I picked up a Christmas Toy Catalogue and on browsing through it at home I saw that there is mention of Starlight's release on 6th November as well as an outline bear shape...and the outline is the 'Pooh' bear shape! Also, the bear is referred to by its name ('Starlight') and as a 'Beanie' and is listed at £6.95. That is the price that all Ty beanies sell for in Harrods. There is NO mention of a Classic.

As yet there are no promotional posters in Store about Starlight. The Italian promotion continues to the end of this month, so the giant Pippo is still in residence in the Children's Theatre and there are several Pippo Beanies available for sale in the Toy Kingdom. No sign of any of the UK trio though!

  ...  CHERISH Update

Good evening from UK,
Today my family, friends and I participated in the 'Making Strides for Breast Cancer' sponsored walk (9km) in Marlow, Buckinghamshire. It was a lovely sunny Autumn Day although there was a LOT of mud underfoot from several rainy days this week!

Around 700 people took part in this event so hopefully a good total will have been raised for research into breast cancer. Many of us wore names of special people - either to celebrate a life saved or to remember one lost. Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in UK now. The good news is that in the last 10 years the survival rate has improved by 21%!

Today sees the final listing of CHERISH auctions specifically raising money for research into breast cancer. Last week's raised over £100. As well as some more 'pink' items (including both versions of Millennium Beanie signed by legendary Olympic rowers Sir Steve Redgrave CBE and Matt Pinsent CBE), there are some items for Halloween.  Please visit this link to view the current auctions:

The new 2004 Holiday Teddy was introduced on September 30th.  Cathie was one of the lucky collectors to find this new holiday bear, and writes the following:
Hi Ms.Janie and Deb....this Christmas Teddy 2004 is a must have. He is soooo very soft and cute! My local Hallmark store e-mailed me that they had received a partial shipment and did I want one? I called right away...and they put one away for me. They also have Hawthorne...but I have one coming...so didn't bother with him...although he is cute. The 2004 Teddy wasn't even out on the beanie shelf...they received so few. Thought you might like to see him...Hugs, Cathie;)

Hi Deb, I thought you might want to know that McD's latest promotion is Disney's Aladdin and Madame Alexander Dolls.  I remember how you love MA Dolls!!  The ones in this series, which runs October 15th to November 4th, are:  Wendy as Jasmine, Wendy at Cruella De Vil,  Wendy as Minnie Mouse (2 versions), Micky Mouse Boy Doll (2 versions), Wendy as Blue Fairy, and Pinocchio Boy Doll.  I have only gotten the Minnie Mouse doll so far.  I'll try and send you a picture later!  In the meantime you can see pictures of them on McD's site. Just a reminder that this week's PINK auctions for Breast Cancer Research will close from 7 pm UK time today and new auctions will begin.

The final PINK auctions will begin next Sunday 24th October (the same day that my family takes part in the sponsored walk 'Making Strides for Breast Cancer' in Marlow - please hope for better weather for us than today!) and will also include some Halloween themed items.

FTD is offering the "Ty Haunted Halloween Tin" on its website. This consists of a metal tin, with Halloween graphics on it, filled with various candies of the trick or treat variety. A Shivers Beanie is also included. Shivers appears to be just the regular retail version, and does not appear to have an additional hang tag.

This promotion is similar to the one that FTD had for Valentine's Day this year. That consisted of a cardboard box filled with chocolates and two Beanies, Secret and Kissy.

CHATHAM – Community activist Mary Lonergan of Chatham Borough has raised over 14,000 Beanie Babies that the National Guard will deliver to soldiers serving in Iraq, she said.  The soldiers intend to use the Beanie Babies as peace offerings for Iraqi children, Lonergan said.

Hi Deb....look what the hunt brought in today!!!!! The Cracker Barrel beanie is lovely...like an old fashioned bear. The Hallmark trio really is nice and looks like Christmas! More than a thousand donated Beanie Babies have helped to mend the broken hearts of one devastated Fredericton family, and now they want the soft plush animals to mend the hearts of other families who might be going through rough times.  On April 29, a house fire destroyed the Forbes family's Taymouth home and claimed the life of their 17-year-old son, Matthew.  They lost everything in the fire, father Ross Forbes said.   ... With no possessions, favourite toys or photos to remind them of the son they lost, donations came in rapidly.  Food, clothing, and archived school photos were being sent to the family almost daily, but it was one set of donated collectibles that really touched their hearts.  Beanie Babies, a favourite collectible of Matthew and his sister, Lindsay, began to funnel in from all around the world - 1,300 of them in fact, from as far away as Spain.  "It was something we always loved," Lindsay said. "Matthew and I had a huge collection of Beanie Babies."
