... US MONEY ORDER ALERT!
Ms Janie Reports:

As of today it is illegal for any bank in Canada to process a US money order. If a Canadian has a US account they will still not be able to process a US money order and it will be treated as a bounced check. If a Canadian goes to the US they cannot cash it unless they have a US account at a US bank. The reason is because Canadian banks are not allowed to process US postal checks. It is technically considered to be a form of money laundering. Personal checks are still accepted. This information was published in the Toronto Star on September 20th. Action is currently underway to make the same change of policy in Britain, Belgium and Israel. If you intend to do any commerce with any of these nations, especially Canada, please use an International Money order or personal check to avoid any problems.

We were informed of the Ty party earlier, and the gift being presented to Ty employees ... a Billionaire 3 Bear. However, for reasons explained very well by Brent from BeaNGO, the information was removed shortly after posting. (We surely didn't want to 'jinx' the giveaway in any way!)

The Ty employees did not receive their Billionaire 3 Bears today, but should have them by Friday. It was, however, shown to them Saturday Night at the celebration. It is hot pink, and is numbered and signed by Ty Warner.

As I mentioned earlier this afternoon, there have been no Charity Auctions (yet) added to Ty Trade. However, Ryan at Collectiblez has done a bit of researching, and has passed along some information of interest! A Christina Aguilera (singer) Autographed Ariel should soon be showing on the Ty Trade site. The following was reported:

As you know, the 'new' hang tag (with "Beanies" written across the star instead of '2000') has only been spotted on some Beanie Babies in the UK, Germany, and on Nipponia in Japan - none so far in the US. Ryan from Collectiblez informs us that a reader has found a 'Sneaky' the leopard with a "Beanies" hang tag in the U.S. now. This tag will probably replace the '2000' hang tag when the year 2000 is over.

... Ty Annual Celebration
Brent from BeaNGO has reported that Ty Employees gathered at Chicago's Field Museum for their annual celebration. The party began at 7:00 pm CDT. It was rumored that Ty Warner would also attend. The formal party is for all employees of Ty, Inc. (Employees should be receiving a "special gift" on Monday.)

I reported a couple of days ago about the new "Beanie" that they should be receiving ... but removed it so as not to 'jinx' this special gift. But you can easily guess what it probably is anyway!

... A slight delay!
I just wanted to thank each one of you that has sent in your very kind and sincere emails and cards ... wishing the best for my mother. (She just had Heart Surgery a few days ago.) Although complications have arisen, our faith is strong that she will soon recuperate.

(I should hopefully be able to respond to all the emails personally very soon ... thank you so much for your understanding!)

... BBOC - Clubby III ordering
A reader has written in and offered a suggestion when ordering your Clubby III online. After trying continuously for several hours, and receiving error messages, it apparently worked! The secret may be to close down your browser (Internet Explorer in this case), then go to the temporary internet files directory, delete your files and cookies, and start again from the main page without logging in (go through the process from the front screen). This should eliminate having to enter passwords, name, and credit card details continuously (and a peace of mind over security concerns).

... Beanie Spotlight - Radar the Bat
1:30 pm EDT ... Pbbags spotlights Radar the Bat this month. Radar was introduced September, 1995. On January 29, 1997, Ty announced to reps and dealers that Radar was retired. The next day, Ty rescinded the announcement of Radar's retirement. From that day on, until his "official" retirement in May, Radar was very difficult to find.

The seller was "queenie-beanie" who has a feedback of 60 positive comments, 1 neutral, and 1 negative. And with this Beanie selling for $2,000, who says the Beanie market is down?!?!

A reader, Alice, has written us stating that today's Ty Tidbit refers to a 'dingo'. Perhaps a Beanie Baby Dingo in the future?

Also, note that the retirement picture on the Newsflash shows the large Peace Buddy without the Peace sign emblem ... and is brighter in color than the large Peace ... actually more like the regular size Buddy that came in vibrant ty-dyed colors and pastel.

... Ty Country Exclusives
I had an interesting thought last night ... wanted to share it with you. Although Ty has not "announced" the three latest country Exclusives - Chinook, Niponnia, and Buckingham - they have been shown to retailers at various Gift Shows. Maple sports the Canadian Flag ... Chinook (reportedly) only has maple leaves, no emblem. Britannia has the UK flag ... Buckingham (reportedly) has a crown emblem. Sakara has a cherry blossom emblem ... Nipponia has the Japanese flag. Liberty has the US flag ... USA Bear has a USA emblem. Perhaps Germania is next to be replaced, with an emblem Bear as well. (Also, Libearty, Maple, Germania, and Britannia Buddies have been made - perhaps we can expect a Sakura Buddy? Oh no!! I think I'll ward off these thoughts for a while!

Ms Janie has received information from a reader in Michigan City, IN, stating that she has received a BBOC newsletter with the offer to purchase Clubby III. Gold and Platinum card holders are eligible to purchase two sets (Clubby III Beanie Baby and Buddy) for $15 each, plus shipping and handling. Sounds like you might want to keep a watch on your mailbox soon, if you are a BBOC member!

Beanieholics reports that Ty registered several web site domains last fall. All of them dealt with different countries. Japan and Asia (Malaysia) are now selling Ty products. This is in addition to Canada and Germany where there were already established Ty accounts. The countries that Ty has yet to move into, in which they have registered domain names for, include Italy, France, Greece, Mexico and Austria. Will we be seeing exclusives coming from other countries in the near future?

Akiko, the webmaster of the Japanese site Com.beanie-shop has posted info about a new Japanese exclusive from Ty called Nipponia. Akiko says a Japanese TV station did a report about the bear and showed a picture. The bear was a shade of blue like Clubby 1 or Clubby 2. Nipponia has the national flag of Japan (the Rising Sun) embroidered on its chest. Under the flag in a red line is the word "Nippon'. The bear is to be on display at the Tokyo International Gift Show beginning September 6th. Rumor is that the bear will go on sale in Japan September 9th.

An added description of the new UK Exclusive Beanie:
She is a beautiful deep burgundy red and wears regal blue and red ribbons around her neck but best of all is the crown - not on her head but embroidered on her chest in the usual place. It is not simply of gold braid like 'The End' which is what I was expecting but within the gold braid outline is embroidered blues and reds to look like one of our royal families REAL crowns which have a silky/satin lining and white Ermine fur around the base of the crown. Buckingham's crown has white embroidered along the base so it looks just like Ermine!! A great deal of effort and work has gone into the crown emblem on Buckingham.

YEEEHAAA ! The UK has got an exclusive again. I've had an early report from a friend at the UK toy fair and he has seen the new BEAR. HE is wine red colour with a ribbon that has gold trim, and is also sporting a gold edged CROWN on his chest. The name was not clearly visible as it was placed on a rotating stand, but he thinks that it's called 'BUCKINGHAM'.
