Spangle over Saudi Arabia
A
few weeks ago, Ms Janie posted a link with photos of 'Spangle'
being flown with the American flag over Saudi Arabia. Contact
addresses were noted on the site, to inform collectors as to
where they could send extra Beanies to show their support for our
armed forces. Ms Janie has received a personal note from John,
along with a framed certificate, as a token of appreciation for
posting the Red Cross information and raising awareness of the
Military Forces in Saudi Arabia. I found the certificate quite
moving and wish to 'congratulate' Ms Janie in 'supporting' these
courageous and dedicated men and women.

Apparently,
'America' appeared in another media newscast as well today. Not
only was it mentioned in the 'Chicago Tribune' and the AP (see
below), it was also on the television news in Chicago. 'J.D.'

CHhugs. They are a totally non-profit organization that auction
celebrity-autographed Beanies to raise funds for additional

from the auctions going to the Disaster Fund.

A Webmaster's Dilemma
Being
a webmaster of Ty Beanie Babies since 1996 has often posed many
questions ... I have been in various situations where it's truly
been a dilemma as to what to post (or not post). As you probably
know, I usually restrain information on this site strictly to
'real' news, meaning official announcements. Although I do not
have a signed agreement with Ty, Inc., I do respect their
position. The fun and excitement is taken away from Ty when
information is posted that is not yet 'official'. I have recently
been asked my opinion by many collectors as to why certain
information is not posted on the site. I do admit, it is
exhilerating to find out certain information 'beforehand'; but
have not felt it in my best interest to pass it along. Yes, there
are times I post 'rumors' (and some have formalized as being
'true'). But they are noted as such.
Ms Janie, being this excellent writer that she is, has expressed
these very thoughts quite well in a personal statement. You can

to Ty Warner, the 'America' Bear was not in production for future
distribution before this week's tragedy. Initial shipments of
America will be airfreighted from overseas for quick shipments to
retailers later this month. Ty has received numerous requests
from retailers wanting to donate their proceeds from this bear.
As you recall, Ty has stated that '100% of Ty's profits from the
original purchase of this America Beanie Baby will be donated to
the Disaster Relief Fund of the American Red Cross".
Note: Many have wondered ... so what happens
to the money profited by retailers, secondary dealers, sellers at
'flea markets', etc. It is overwhelming the number of people who
want to help in any way they can. Yes, you can donate your money
directly to the Disaster Relief Fund, which I have done. And I
will buy a Bear (probably several - to give away on the site)
from people I personally know that are plannning on donating
their profit from this Bear. It will proudly be displayed in my
home, and a reminder of how we have pulled together to help each
other. There has never been a time that I have been more proud to
live in this great country!

It amazes me at the number of people that are preselling this
bear on eBay auctions, attempting to make a huge profit. As you
know, only "100% of Ty's profits" are going to the
American Red Cross. In other words, if you pay $30 on a presell,
the same amount of money is donated to the Red Cross as if you
had paid retail price. However, there are some reputable
'secondary market dealers' that have stated that all their
profits will be donated to the charity. If any profits are made they will
be sent to The Red Cross. (As an example, RyeByPost has formally stated that they will
not take a profit on this bear; you pay a fixed price.) My suggestion ...
just know who you are buying from and where the money is going.

various countries, expressing their heartfelt concerns and very
moving comments over the national disaster. A reader has sent the
following to Beanieholics, which leaves me
speechless as well:
Not Beanie related but Buckingham Palace made an historic change with tradition today. The 'Changing of the Guard' is a daily ceremony at the Palace and it broke with tradition and played the American National Anthem as a mark of respect.
It just proves the
togetherness between our two countries for this to be done,
something that has never happened before for any other country,
I'm not even sure if this has ever been changed for royalty

Beanie News
Galore Online has posted a picture of the Billionaire IV Bear,
recently given to Ty employees. The description: The bear is rust
color with a yellow ribbon and yellow $ signs all over its body.
The $ sign is followed by a small number '4' next to it. Ty has
signed the bear in gold ink; they are numbered to 762. (Ty
managers have received their Bears ... the rest of the employees
will receive theirs on Thursday. The poem reads:

... Apparently the 'rumor' we heard of a 'Christmas surprise'
earlier is true ... Ms Janie has just received information that
nine (9) Christmas ornaments were introduced at the Boston Show
over the weekend. They are reportedly a little bigger than the
Teenies, are called 'Jingle Beanies', and are the same fabric as
the original Beanies. The nine include 1997, 1998, and 1999 Christmas
Bears, Halo, Peace, Quackers, Red Rover, Twigs and Loosy. For additional information, check

Rover is my husband's all-time favorite
Beanie and sits proudly on his computer! He wil HAVE to have a
Rover tree ornament! Christmas shopping begins soon ... something

website shows a few changes ... some moving around
has taken place. Most notably is the removal of M.C. Beanie from
the center screen and placed in a link on the right hand bar.
I DID notice on Wednesday that there were small icon pictures on
the Buddies and Attic page to the left of each products name, on
the left hand scroll bar. But that disappeared quickly ... I
personally liked the quick view of each item when scrolling ...

had such a silly dream last night! I dreamed that all of the
leaves changed into strange colors like pink and blue. Not only
that, they also turned striped, polka-dotted and plaid! That's
not event the silliest part! The silliest part is that all of us
Beanies started to change color, too! I turned bright orange with
pink polka dots! Brigette turned green and Diddley turned pink!
Some of the Beanies even turned plaid! I have to go and tell
everyone about my silly dream. I'll talk to you later. Bye!

have received several emails from collectors informing us that

... one is like the material of 'Mellow"; the other is of

Earlier
yesterday, when checking out the current/retired lists on Ty's
site, I noticed small icon pictures next to the Buddies and
Attics name, on the left hand bar. They were only there for a
split second, and poof ... they were gone! Later in the evening,
it was reported that Ty announced the retirement of Pierre ...
before I could even post it, another poof! - and it was gone.
Pierre IS still listed as current!!! (Whew, glad THAT didn't
happen!) It must have been a long day for someone!
Added note: No wonder we didn't catch the
Pierre retirement ... it apparently was just a rumor.

The Celebrity Bears UK web site reports that information
on Star # 100 from Celebrity Bears was released yesterday at the
NEC UK Autumn Trade Show. The bear will be a 'Guardian Angel'
bear and will be made of a very unique tie-dye material. The bear
has a halo of colorful flowers and a sash around her body along
with fluffy white feathers for wings. More info about this bear
