Beanie Babies magnate Ty Warner has bought the duplex penthouse in the not-yet built Chicago Spire, WGN-TV reports.  The 10,000 square-foot, duplex is expected to be the 141st and 142nd floors of Santiago Calatrava's 2,000 foot-tall lake shore skyscraper.  The penthouse was listed at  $40 million, but it's unclear how much the reclusive local billionaire actually paid.

Hi Doodle, I check your site often, and thought this might be something your readers / collectors may want to know.  I have a four year old who will love these new Beanies coming out soon.  ... The site I checked out ... a Wow Wow Wubbzy website ... shows 3 Ty Beanie Babies.  It states retailers Walgreens, CVS, Borders, Barnes & Noble, and Hallmark as accounts that will be carrying them.  There is also a Ty Plush Gift Pack (a DVD and Beanie Baby) that the site says will be available at Sam's Club.  Just click on the bar and scroll down.  It just says "Fall 2008" for the gift pack.  ... It's hard to believe that the Fall season is here!  And along with the cooler weather, we anticipate Ty retirements and new products for October.  We've given you many 'hints' for the last several weeks as to what is just around the corner.  Keep your eye on the Ty website over the next few days; announcements should be soon.

 

 ...   New Thanksgiving Pluffies
As we reported in our news on July 5th (click here), new holiday theme products are coming soon.  The list included several Pluffies, two of them Thanksgiving themed - Indian Bear and Lil Pilgrim.  Expected availability is October 1st;  probably an official introduction within the week by Ty.  (Now those are two cute bears!)

Note:  Winter theme Pluffies should follow soon as well, available around mid-October ... Arctic (polar bear), Bluster (snowman), and Snuggery (reindeer).

On August 15th, Ty announced the 'Make My Beanie' contest.   Today, the two Grand Prize winners have been announced.  A big congratulations to the two Grand Prize winners of Ty's 'Make My Beanie' Contest !   As stated on Ty's website, the Grand Prize winners will receive their Beanie creation made into a real Beanie Baby 2.0 and autographed by Ty Warner.  (The 50 Finalists will receive Ty Warner autographed official “Make My Beanie” t-shirts.)  Only one lucky winner from each age group will have their Beanie made and the character will appear in Beanie Land.  The 2 Grand Prize winners will each receive their Beanie creation autographed by Ty Warner.  And as 'Snootz' says ... coming to a store near you soon.

As many collectors know, there have been occasions where the graphic photo is different than the actual product.  Of course, IF you come across a 'buttoned Scaredy'. we would definitely like to hear from you.

Hi Deb I would imagine the photograph in the Pluffies magazine is taken from Ty's site that also shows Scaredy with the 2.0 button. I know of no one who has received one with a button. This has happened with other graphics on the site, being different than how the beanie is finally produced.  Love: Karen
