Hi,
We went to London again
yesterday on a family outing - to an Art Gallery, shopping and to the
Theatre...on our late return home I was amazed to find a note through the
door from FedEx, saying that a package for me had been left at a neighbour's
house while we were out.
I couldn't believe that it
could be my Ty Halloween Prize Package already - so went online to track the
FedEx number - and yes, indeed the package HAD come from Illinois. I had
faxed the official form back the day that I received the email and think
that it probably arrived there just at the end of the working day.
Amazingly, on the FedEx site it shows the pick-up of the package booked not
long after that, followed within the hour by the package being collected by
FedEx!!! Less than 2 days later FedEx were trying to deliver it to my house!
Isn't that incredible? I thought that it would take at least a week, if not
longer. How generous of Ty Inc to send the package via this very fast method
- because of course Customs had to be cleared as part of the process.
So, there I was last night at
midnight, reading this information and wishing that the kind neighbours who
had taken in the package did not go to bed so early! A VERY sleepless night
followed for me. I was up bright and early, waiting to see signs of activity
in the neighbours' house...unfortunately for me, they were enjoying a
Saturday morning lie-in!
Eventually, at 10.15 I saw
that curtains were drawn back and off I went, trying NOT to get too excited
and hopeful about the prospect of having a Ty signed Beanie in that box!
Having thanked the bemused neighbour I carried the box back to my house and
as I did so, I felt a 'clunk' as I moved the box. Could that be the
sound of a Ty display case? Or was it just a Beanie or an envelope hitting
the side of the box?
Indoors I hid from the family
as I opened the box...although I wanted to open it quickly I also wanted to
savour the moment, so photographs were taken at every stage. Signed Beanie
or not, this prize was special because of how it was won and I intended to
enjoy every bit of the experience.
On slitting the tape and
opening the box, I saw the Ty envelope first. I decided to open that and end
the agony of wondering...YES!!! It was a letter from the Count,
congratulating me on my win and telling me that included in the package was
a Little feather signed by Ty Warner!!! I moved some copper coloured
tissue paper to one side, revealing a cardboard wrapper around a
Ty display case, all wrapped in bubble wrap and with more bubble wrap around
Little Feather inside. Indeed, the hang tag HAD been signed inside, in black
pen. Only once before have I seen the Ty signature 'up close and personal'
and that was when Ty signed Cure Beanie for CHERISH at Harrods Stardust
launch last year. I knew then that I was not going to keep that special
Beanie but this time this one IS going in my collection. I feel like Fate
has decided that for me.
Back to the package and under
more sheets of tissue paper (black, copper and orange; very pretty) were
Count, Shivers, Bat-e Buddy and Quivers Buddy. The whole package looked
lovely and perfectly timed in its arrival for Halloween tomorrow!
I feel truly blessed that I
have won this special package. I wish that there could be more winners but
want your readers to know that this could not have gone to a more
appreciative winner. I treasure my Ty collection and this (as to any avid
collector) is the cherry on the cake. It will always carry memories of the
fun and friendship of the Ty Cyber Boards as much as the thrill of finally
adding something signed by Ty Warner to my own collection.
Could I please pass on my
thanks to all the people who have sent messages of Congratulations. I really
appreciate them and they have been saved as they are as special as the prize
itself! Good luck to eveyone in the final days of the Draw.
I just wanted to copy Little
Feather's hang tag poem here as it really does sum up how I am feeling
today:
There's so much to be thankful for
Our health and families and much more
And as for me, I'd like to say
We should all give thanks everyday !
Best wishes,
Sue
